Objectives EsP2PPP- IIIa-b– 6

Mga Karapatan na Tinatamasa Pagkilala sa mga karapatang Tinatamasa

III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Learner’s Materials pages PIVOT Learner’s Material Quarter 3 pp.7-10
2. Textbook pages Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao 2 pp. 157-160
3. Additional Materials from ESP DLL 2

B. Other Learning Resources power point presentation
IV. PROCEDURES
A.Reviewing previous lesson or Drill
presenting the new lesson Mental Computation: Give me a number that is
a)one more than 9
b)one more than 99
c)one more than 999
What happens to 9 when you add 1?
Review on place value and the relationship of each digit to another digit in a given number.

B.Establishing a purpose for the Ask the pupils the electrical appliances they have at home. Elicit from them which of
lesson these consume the most electricity.
Ask the pupils how much they pay for their monthly electric bill. Get some reactions.
How would you help lessen your electric consumption? Why?
Let pupils form a circle.
Let them move clockwise then counterclockwise.
Do the activity a few times.
C.Presenting Present the problem posted in Engage part and give enough time to the pupils to
Examples/Instances of new understand the problems.
lesson Mr. Fernandez is computing his monthly electrical consumption. Based on his electric
bill, last month he was able to consume 00125 kWh. When he checked his digital electric meter,
the reading is 00199 kWh. How many kilowatt-hours did Mr. Fernandez consume this month?
Observe the meter readings below (TG p.302)

For us to get the amount of electricity that Mr. Dela Cruz consumed, subtract the previous
electric meter reading from the present electric meter reading.
But first, let us study how to read an analog electric meter.
Explain the steps in reading electric meter. (Mathletes txbk p. 303)
D.Discussing new concepts and Present example no. 1:
practicing new skills #1 Read and interpret the dials on the electric meter below.

E.Discussing new concepts and Present Example no. 2:

practicing new skills #2 Read and interpret the dials on the meter below. Start reading the dials from right to
left.

Present more examples.

Go back to the problem earlier and discuss how to find the electric meter consumption
of Mr. Fernandez by subtracting the previous electric meter to the present electric meter.
F.Developing mastery Distribute an activity sheet to each group.
(Leads to Formative
Assessment)

Draw a dial to show the readings.

1. 5 035 2. 5 148 3. 6 524
Give the difference of:
1. 1 & 2 2. 2 & 3 3. 1 & 3
Which has the greatest difference? Which pair will have the biggest bill? Explain
G.Developing mastery Form a group of five. Give each group an activity card. Make sure that the students will
(Group Activity) read the direction carefully for them to understand the activity given to them.
Group 1: Read Me ( Interpret the electric meter consumption shown in each dial)
Group 2: Write Me ( Draw the hand of the dial according to the electric meter consumption
given)
Group 3: Color Me (Color the dial that shows the electric meter consumption given below)
Group 4: Let Us Connect ( Connect the dials to the electric consumptions)
Group 5: Find Out (Study the table. Compute the kwh used in each household and answer
the question below.
I.Making generalizations and How do the dials of the electric meter move?
abstractions about the lesson How do you read the dials of a meter?
To read correctly:
Read the dials from left to right.
If the pointer is between the two numbers, always take the lower number.
If the pointer is directly over a number, write down that number.
If the pointer falls between 9 and 0, write down 9 and reduce the reading you've already taken
for the dial on it's left by one.

H.Finding practical applications TABLE OF ELECTRIC READINGS

of concepts and skills in daily Hous Previou Present kwh
living ehold s Used
A 2 150 2 288 138
B 7 285 7 810 525
C 4 605 4 938 333
D 6 214 6 576 362
E 6 435 6 795 360
1.Study the table and compute the kwh used.
Discussion:
a)Which household consumed the most? the least?
b)Which two household consumed almost the same kwh? What can you say about their bill?
c)As a member of the household, how can you lower your electric bill?
Why is it important to use electricity wisely?
J.Evaluating Learning Read each dial below and write the number in each line space.

K.Additional activities for 1. Read your electric meter.

application and remediation 2. Bring an old electric bill.
