SCRIPT FOR DEBATE

Navya-Good afternoon to one and all present here. We welcome you all to this
event of live online English debate competition for classes 7h and 8h.

If you would like to think rationally, speak logically, and clearly, have a
strong time sense, broaden your knowledge, have respect for other’s
opinion, I think the debate is for you.

Debating, not only moulds our personality but also provides an avenue to voice our
views. It widens our perception and sharpens critical and analytical thinking skills.
It creates leaders who can mould public opinion for betterment of all. It improves
your rhetorical eloquence and helps to deliver rational and reasoned arguments. It is
rightly said , “For good ideas and innovation you need human interaction, conflict,
argument and debate.”

Ashutosh-We have with us four honourable judges who have agreed to grace
this occasion with their presence.

Our first esteemed judge is Mrs Filomina Jose. Ma’am does not need any
introduction because her name is etched in the annals of MSM in bold and golden
letters. She had a long and illustrious career spanning over 24 years in the
Institution and had been a mentor to thousands of students. During her tenure,
ma’am had worn many hats, the most prominent one being the Middle School
Coordinator. Her immense energy, high spirits, dedication, sincerity and passion
towards her work is exhilarating. She holds a Masters degree in Zoology and is
also NET qualified.

Ma’am we feel honoured to have you with us.

Yuvraj-We also have with us Mrs Sarita Sood. Ma’am has been enriching the
Institution for the last 12 years. She holds a Masters degree in Economics. She has
a flair for teaching and firmly believes that teaching can be made more effective
by experiential learning. Her wonderful classroom management skills, innovative
methods of instruction and effective discipline has groomed and promoted positive
behavior among children. Endowed with a positive attitude and non-judgemental
outlook,
she firmly believes that, A Teacher affects Eternity. Ma’am has a great
passion for fine arts and loves to paint masterpieces in her leisure time.

We heartily welcome you ma’am.

Nikhil-Our next esteemed judge is Mrs Anchal Siwach. She has been a beacon of
light and inspiration to our junior school children. Her elegant personna and poised
composure will make your heart skip a beat. Ma’am is a technocrat with
postgraduate degree in Information Technology. She has been handling students
and managing the school software with equal dexterity. Her relentless service and
passion to strengthen the foundation of the junior students is beyond expression.
She has been serving the Institution for the last 9 years. She has an illustrious
career in the field of education, spanning over 20 years.

We heartily welcome you ma’am.

Abrianna-We also have with us Mrs Seema Sharma. Ma’am needs no introduction
as she has made us all move and groove to her dance beats. As a dance teacher,
ma’am has helped the students find music in their heart, beat in their feet and a
passion for life. She is a certified aerobics trainer and has attended various dance
workshops of Shaimak Davar and Ashley Lobo. Ma’am has joined the Institution
in 2010. This is her second innings at MSM. She has contributed immensely by
training the students for various programmes and Interschool competitions. Under
her able guidance, Marians have brought laurels to the Institution.

Anaya-The rules for the debate are:

 There will be 2 speakers from each House: one will speak for the
motion and other against the motion.
 Both the speakers from each house are from different classes - one from
class 7th and other from class 8th.
 Time limit for each speaker is 3 minutes.
 Time exceeded by more than 10 seconds will invite deduction of
marks.
 We will not have interjection or rebuttal round.
 No cross questioning will be done.
 Participants should avoid reading out a written script, which will incur
negative marking
 Parameters for judgement are: presentation, content, fluency, and
conviction.
 House points will be calculated on the basis of total scores of both the
speakers. (for and against)

Navya-The topic for today’s debate is –

“Does using, only ‘Made in India’ products, show patriotism?”

Before we start the debate, let me introduce the speakers. We have Saira
Kumar from Hogan House, Kashvi Goel from Parkinson House, Ananya
Chauhan from Price House and Shantanu Munjal from Hughes House who are
going to speak For the motion.

Now I am going to propose the Vote of Thanks.

As this event culminates, we deem it a great honour and privilege to thank all
those who made it a successful and memorable event. First and foremost, we
would like to thank our Principal Rev. Bro Naveen for his great vision in
providing this online interactive platform, Bro Superior Sylvanus, our
coordinators Geo Sir, Monica ma’am, Sharmila Roy ma’am for their constant
support and guidance.

We would also like to thank our judges who despite their busy schedule took out
time to grace this event and judge the speakers. Special thanks goes to Filomina
ma’am who still share a close affinity and bonding with the Institution.

Our gratitude and thanks to our teachers Savita ma’am and Shakti ma’am for
organizing this mega event in the most difficult times.

Last but not the least we would like to extend a special thanks to the
Almighty God for showering his blessings.

I would like to conclude with this inspiring quote, “An ignited mind is the
most powerful weapon on the earth which can be achieved through
education.”
