APEX V4.X Installation Instructions
These installation instructions are for field service engineers to install APEX V4.0 and later
systems.

Prerequisites
• A license key. The system prompts you for a license key during the installation. The license
key is included with the APEX software disks.
• A system with Microsoft Windows 7 installed.

Archive and backup


1. Log on as QDR User.
2. Archive all the scans on the system.
3. Perform a system backup.
4. Exit QDR without shutdown and close any other open applications showing in the taskbar at
the bottom of the screen.

Install APEX 4.X or later


1. Ensure that you are logged on as QDR user.
2. Insert the APEX System Software CD into the CD drive. The Auto Play dialog box is
displayed.

3. In the General options section, click Open folder to view files. A list of files on the
installation CD is displayed.

4. Double click Setup.exe. The installation program begins and setup information is displayed.
Then the Welcome screen is displayed.

5. Click Next. The License Agreement screen is displayed.

6. Read the agreement.


7. Click Yes to accept the terms of the agreement. The Select APEX Machine Type is
displayed.

8. Select the machine type. Click Next. The Serial Number screen is displayed.

9. Enter the serial number and Install key. Click Next. The Choose Destination Location is
displayed.
10. Click Next to accept the C:\QDR folder as the destination location. A progress bar displays
while the program files are being installed. The InstallShield Wizard Complete screen
appears. The Yes, I want to restart my computer now option is selected.

11. Remove the CD from the CD drive. Click Finish. The system reboots.
12. Log in as QDR User.
13. Navigate to the APEX Task Bar and click Help > About APEX. The About Hologic APEX
Software screen appears.

The installed Version is displayed in the Version box.
14. Click OK.
15. Perform another System Backup. Use this backup with the new version of APEX system
software.
16. Store the backup in a safe place.
