Circles and Area related to circles

Class Practice: 22nd-24th July

Section A

4 Find the area of a minor segment of circle of radius 14 cm , when the

angle of corresponding sector is 60°

5 In the adjacent figure, AB and CD are

common tangents to two circles of
unequal radii. Prove that AB = CD
Section B

1 Find the area of a segment formed by a chord of 7 cm in a circle of radius

7cm. (use 3 =1.73)

2 A chord PQ of a circle is parallel to the tangent drawn at a point R of the

circle. Prove that R bisects the arc PRQ

In the given figure RTP and STQ are common tangents to the two circles
with centres A and B. The radii of the two circles are 3 cm long and 5 cm
long respectively.

If ST : TQ =1 : 3 and RT = 4 cm, calculate

(a) the length of-QT

(b) the length of AB

In the given figure AOB is a sector of angle 60° of

a circle with centre O and radius 17 cm. If AP ⟂ OB and AP = 15 cm find the
area of the shaded region.

section C

1 All the vertices of a rhombus lie on a circle. Find the area of the rhombus,
if the area of the circle is 1256 cm2 . (Use π = 3.14)

4 The diameters of front and rear wheels of a tractor are 80 cm and 2 m

respectively. Find the number of revolutions that the rear wheel will make
in covering a distance in which the front wheel makes 1400 revolutions.
5 An archery target has three regions
formed by three concentric circles as
shown in the adjacent figure. If the
diameters of the concentric circles are
in the ratio 1: 2:3, then find the ratio
of the areas of three regions.
