INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES:

This paper is made up of five equally weighted questions.

Answer any three questions.

Any additional question(s) will not be marked

Each candidate is provided with support files in the folder Resourceful Support Files 2024
on the Computer Desktop. Use the support files where applicable to supplement the
questions.

Candidates should continuous save your work.

Each candidate must produce a hard copy for each of their work

 Attempt any three questions in this paper

1. Load the file story using a word processing application and carry out the following
instructions;

a) Set the page size to A4. (01 mark)

b) Set the page orientation to portrait. (01
mark)
c) Set all margins to 2 centimeters. (01 mark)
d) Place in the header your full name and index number left aligned (01 mark)
e) Make the title centre aligned. (01 mark)
f) Set the font size of the title to 24 point. (01 mark)
g) Set the title and subtitle to a Lucida Bright font 16. (01 mark)
h) After the subtitle format the rest of the document as body text into two equally
spaced columns, with a 1 centimeter gap. (01 mark)
i) Set all the body text to a Garamond font, 1.5 line spacing. (01 mark)
j) Identify the subheadings in the document and make them all italics and 12 point
(01 mark)
Make sure there is one line space below each subheading.
k) Insert the table below at the end of the document.

l) Make sure the table fits within the column width. The font should match the body
text of the document. (01 mark)
m) Merge the cells in the top row of the table across the five columns. (01 mark)
n) Insert a column Total and use an inbuilt function to determine the totals for both
planned and the actual (02 marks)
o) Insert a suitable image from the support files. (01 mark)
p) Make sure each title starts from a new page (01 mark)
q) Assign each title a heading 1 and make sure you maintain the same formats

r) Generate a table of content on page one of the document (02 marks)
s) Rename the file as your name and index number (01mark)

2. (a) Using an appropriate spreadsheet application, load the file Exam results and
save it as your name and personal number. (02 marks)
(b) Rotate the titles to an angle of 60 degrees. (01 mark)
(c) Copy the table to sheet 2 and rename the sheet modified.
(02 marks)
(d) Using appropriate functions compute;
i. Total marks obtained by each student to be placed in column P.
(02 marks)
ii. Average marks to one decimal place obtained in the compulsory subjects (English,
Mathematics, History, Biology and Chemistry). Place the average marks in
column Q. (02 marks)
iii. The number of students who sat for computer as one of their option subjects.
Place the result in cell C25. (02 marks)
iv. The highest score obtained in Chemistry. Place the result in cell C26.

(e) Using a function determine position basing on their average scores

(f) Create a column Comment and use the average to assign comments as follows;
those with and above 75 excellent, those with 50 and above Good and those below
50 poor (03 marks)
(g) Insert a footer of your name and personal number. (01 mark)
(h) Include all borders on the table. (01 mark)
(i) Save and print your work. (01 mark)

3. Mr. Musisi has conceived an idea of writing a book and he wants to write it with his
friend who happens to be a departmental of ICT. They are planning to write a book
about effects of technology on people. Using a desktop publishing software of your
choice;

a) Create an A4 page land scape page size (01 mark)

 b) Set the margins of the page using the following dimensions (02 marks)
(i) Top 1 cm
(ii) Bottom 1 cm
(iii) Left 1 cm
(iv) Right 1 cm
c) Make sure your page is set to print one page per sheet (01 mark)
d) Divide the page into 3 parts; (02 marks)
(i) Spine 2 cm
(ii) Front face 14 cm
(iii) Back face 14 cm
e) Using the image saved as sample cover, layout the book cover detail using the
information given in the question;
(i) Appropriate book title (02 marks)
(ii) Suitable illustration (02 marks)
(iii) Background colour on the cover (02 mark)
(iv) Suitable front image using images in the support files (02 marks)
(v) Use of fonts and font variations (02 marks)
NB; it doesn’t need to be the same as the one in the image
f) Apply a header your name and a footer your index number (01 mark)
g) Use a relevant image to represent the main owner of the book (01 mark)
h) Save your work as your name (01 mark)
i) Print your work on one page (01 mark)

4. Open a file saved as Uganda Today using presentation program and carry out the
following activities.
(a) Insert slide five with the heading “conclusion” and in it make a conclusion for the
presentation. (02marks)

(b) Using a slide master, format your presentation to have: (01mark)

(i) All headings to appear in Baskerville old Face. (01mark)

(ii) Headings to have font size 45 and the content font size 15. (02marks)

(iii) Font colour red. (01mark)

(iv) Slide back ground orange (01mark)

(vi) Bounce animations for headings and the rest of the work Grow and Turn.

(vi) Slide transition page curl. (01marks)

(vii) Transition time slow. (01mark)

(viii) Explosion. (01mark)

(ix) Apply these effects to all computer. (01mark)

(c) Add your name to slide one as the presenter. (01mark)

(d) Left align content in slide 3 and insert in them bullets of your choice (02mark)

(e) Loop your presentation continuously until when escaped. (01mark)

(f) Include a header of your name to all slides. (01mark)

(g) Print all your work in hand out mode. (01mark)

4. Dream house is a company that deals in hosting tourists who come in the country. It
rents houses from people for accommodating the tourists. It has a number of staff
members who are assigned to oversee the property for rent.
Study it and answer the questions that follow.
