IMC 2024 Brochure
15-16 NOVEMBER
In 2020, with the aim of encouraging students to excel in mathematics and critical thinking, the IMC team decided to
conduct an online version of the International Math Challenge. This initiative sought to boost the motivation of both teach-
ers and students who had become disengaged and lost their goal-oriented focus during the challenging times of the global
pandemic, when most Olympiads and competitions were forced to be canceled or postponed indefinitely. The IMC team
also hoped that this competition would help various types of schools keep their students engaged and enable them to
observe their mathematics education in an international arena.
The online IMC in 2022 witnessed the participation of 5,000 students from 86 countries. It was an outstanding achieve-
ment, reaching a total of 88 countries through the online platform. By 2023, the participation grew significantly, with over
9600 students from 2355 schools worldwide.
Each participating school may organize its students into the following categories: grades 1-2, grades 3-4, grades 5-6,
grades 7-8, grades 9-10, and grades 11-12. This is an individual competition where students can receive prizes for their
achievements. The competition will be conducted in five languages—English, Thai, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. Students
are expected to solve 40 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes. For the youngest category (grades 1 and 2), there will be
25 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. This event aims to motivate students to view mathematics in a new light,
stimulate their interest in the subject, and consider how they can apply mathematics in their future studies and daily lives.
It is essential to highlight that in the 2023 Online IMC, all participants were awarded certificates, valuable rewards, and
scholarships from international universities.
We extend our best wishes to all students and their mathematics mentors/trainers. We hope our youth will be inspired to
think critically and scientifically through their love of mathematics and technology. We look forward to welcoming you all on
the competition days.
Sincerely,
Chayanin Mhadla
General Secretary
