Part 3
Read the text below and answer questions 17 – 24.
Frugal living is learning to be smart with your spending. It means knowing what your priorities are. It also
means being sensible with your spending. Spending money on things that you can afford and that brings
joy adds value to your life. One needs to be disciplined to be able to live frugally.
To begin with, one needs to save enough to make choices in life. Saving some money for emergency
use and for unexpected incidents helps to reduce your stress. The easiest way to live frugally is to be mindful
of what you spend on. Before making any purchase, ask yourself if you really need it. Frugal living does not
mean that you cannot go on a shopping spree. If you have the spare cash for the things that you really love,
go for it. The key word is being mindful. Have you paid off your debts? Have you put aside some savings?
How much do you have at the end of the month? These are some questions that you should consider
before you decide to give yourself a treat.
To live frugally, create a budget. Know how much your incoming money is and how much you have to
put aside for other necessities. Keeping track of what you need to spend on helps you to direct your money
to better use.
