16. Class Policies

● Regular attendance is expected. Attendance policy as stipulated in the student handbook
applies. (Student Handbook 2018-2021, Section 9, p. 85)
● Policies on Examination (Student Handbook 2018-2021, Section 10, p. 88) in addition to
existing department policies apply.
● University policies on academic dishonesty will strictly be enforced. Policies on cheating and
corrective measures and formative interventions (Sections 5.3.1.1, p. 37 and 4.4.1, p. 56,
Student Handbook 2015-2018) also applies.
● Module Exercises, Homework and Computational Laboratory Activities. These activities
will be given to students in advance (at least two days before the submission deadline) and
must be submitted online. Be sure to start answering these activities upon receipt and do
not wait for few hours before the deadline so as not to encounter problems with
internet/network connections or computer access. In case of adverse weather conditions that
could affect internet connections, the dates for online submission will be adjusted accordingly.
Late submissions and submissions outside the platform designated will not be accepted under
any circumstances.
● Quizzes. Make-up quiz will only be given once during the entire term due to approved or
valid absence. Otherwise, students who miss any exam or quiz due to unapproved absences
will be given a score of zero. Quizzes subsequently missed will be given a score of zero.
Make-up quizzes will be given with prior approval of the professor and under exceptional
circumstances only.
● Final Examination. Students are not allowed to take the final examination in advance.
Students must not make any travel plans, except for those related to official university
activities, which will interfere with the administration of the final exam or the grade
consultation day.
● Students are expected to comply strictly with the university’s rule on dress code, class tardiness
and attendance. Any student who exceeds the maximum allowed number of absences will be
given a grade of ‘0.0’, i.e., failure due to absences.
● Mobile phones or any e-gadgets should be turned off or put in a silent mode during class hours
unless required for teaching and learning purposes.
