Members of the Admissions Committee,

I am writing to express my interest in pursuing a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at University of


Windsor. With a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering, and five years of professional experience in the construction industry, I am eager to
contribute to and further my research in this field. My academic background and professional
journey have provided me with a robust foundation and a deep passion for advancing sustainable
construction materials and innovative structural solutions.

During my Master’s program, I focused my thesis on the numerical investigation of Fly Ash,
stone dust, and GGBS geopolymer concrete beams, as well as their CFRP retrofitting. This
research, conducted using ABAQUS software, revealed significant insights into the mechanical
behavior, strength, and durability of geopolymer concrete, and demonstrated the efficacy of
CFRP retrofitting in enhancing structural performance. The alignment of this research with
sustainable construction practices underscores my commitment to developing eco-friendly
materials that meet contemporary engineering challenges.

My Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering further honed my expertise, particularly through a


project on the experimental testing and numerical modeling of RCC columns subjected to fire.
This work deepened my understanding of the thermal degradation of concrete and steel
reinforcement, as well as the critical need for fire-resistant design strategies. The combination of
experimental and numerical approaches in my research has equipped me with a comprehensive
skill set in both practical and theoretical aspects of structural engineering.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have gained valuable practical experience over the past
five years in the construction industry. This experience has allowed me to apply my academic
knowledge to real-world projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and manage complex
engineering challenges. It has also reinforced my belief in the importance of sustainable and
innovative solutions in the field of structural engineering.

I am particularly drawn to University of Windsor because of its esteemed faculty, innovative


research facilities, and commitment to advancing knowledge in structural engineering. I am
confident that the Ph.D. program at University of Windsor will provide me with the ideal
environment to further my research, collaborate with leading experts, and contribute to the
development of sustainable and resilient construction practices.
