PRE LESSON
1. Guide the pupils to sing the phonics song.
LESSON DEVELOPMENT
2. Activity 1:
a. Revise the phonemes /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/ by getting the pupils to say the words with the phonemes /s/ /a/ /t/ /p/.
b. Write pupils’ responses on the board in tree map form.
c. Introduce the phonemes /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/.
d. Get the pupils to listen to, articulate the sounds and perform the actions.
3. Activity 2:
a. Show flash cards of objects with the phonemes /i/ /n/ /m/ /d/.
b. Say the words.
c. Pupils listen and follow.
d. Then, guide pupils to segment the words.
4. Activity 3:
a. Distribute worksheets.
b. Say a word and articulate the phonemes.
c. Pupils listen and repeat.
d. Then, pupils colour the correct initial sounds. (Assessment)
e. Discuss the answers with pupils.
POST - LESSON
5. Distribute worksheet.
a. Low level: Pupils read the words and match them to the correct pictures.(worksheet A)
b. High level: Pupils fill in the missing sounds. Then, match the words to the correct pictures.( worksheet B)
