Project Name: Guadalupe STP -BNR Retrofit Project Prepared By: Moorthy
Project No.: 197710 Date: 43818
Title: Head Loss Calculation for Air Blower Verified By: Palani
File No.: EAV-BNR-CALN-001 Date: 0
Component: B-01 Sheet: of
Design Assumptions
1 The Air Blower is supplying air to the following using a common Header:-
1. Aeration Tanks
2. Sludge Tanks
3. Sewage Lift Pimp Pit
3 The existing Aeration tanks will be retrofitted with BNR tanks, so air demand is higher than existing.

D19-0008-01-ESWWRL-STP-VAR8-GUA-4000-M009
D19-0008-01-ESWWRL-STP-VAR8-GUA-4000-M012
9 Note : No proper as-built detail drawings avaialble, so pipe configuration and some fittings are assumed
10 Final Air Blower Sizing -> Based on the each Excel Tab calculations results
Air Blower Capacity : 924 Nm3/hr
1. For Calculating Head Loss in Aeration Pipeline the following Darcy-Weisbach Equations are used :
Instead of Referring Moody Chart, Swamee–Jain Eqn. is used to solve directly for the Darcy–Weisbach friction factor, (f)
where,
ΔPmaj = Major pressure loss (Pa, N/m2)
f = D'Arcy-Weisbach friction Coefficient
L= Length of duct or pipe (m)
D= Hydraulic diameter (m)
V = Flow velocity (m/sec)
ρ = Density (kg/m3)
ε = Pipe Internal Roughness (m)
Re = Reynolds Number
Re = (V x D) ÷ Kinematic Viscosity (m2/sec)
