Nano Commissioning Tool

The Nano Commissioning tool is used to configure and label a Nano panel based fire detection and alarm
system. These instructions cover how to install the tool, use the functions of the tool to enter preliminary
information about the system, retrieve devices, configure and label the whole system and transmit the
configuration to the panel. Additionally this tool has command functionality that can directly control the panel, to
sound alarms, silence alarms, reset system, simulate fires and enable/disable devices, zones and sectors.

How to get the Nano Commissioning tool program

The Nano Commissioning tool software program can be downloaded from the Gent Expert forum :
The website is accessible to Gent System Integrators who have registered. If you have not registered then
simply click on the 'registration link' and follow the on screen instructions.

You should download the Nano Commissioning tool software from Gent Expert forum to a directory.

Installing the Commissioning tool program

The Nano Commissioning tool software can run on most laptops having Windows XP PRO with Service pack 2
or 3, Windows Vista Business with Service Pack 1 or Windows 7.

" Before installation of the Nano Commissioning tool program refer to the
information on Gent Expert regarding any additional requirements, such as installation of
DOTNET framework V2.0 and Crystal Report Runtime Viewer V10.0.

¨ Find the directory that holds the Nano Commissioning tool installation and double click on
Nano Commissioning Tool.exe. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.
¨ After the tool installation you can install the USB driver for the Nano panel:
START -> Programs -> Nano Commissioning Tool -> Install USB Driver.

Upgrading the Commissioning tool program

Before you upgrade or downgrade your Nano Commissioning tool program you must first remove the existing
Nano Commissioning tool program from your computer.
¨ START -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Change or Remove
Programs.
¨ Scroll through the current programs and select the Nano Commissioning Tool and click on the
'Remove' button.

Compatibility with Nano V1.x Commissioning Tool

The Nano V2.x Commissioning tool can accept Nano V1.x Commissioning Tool configuration file, however
once a V1.x a .prj file is opened in V2.x tool the file can only be saved as .mdb file.

When a V1.x file is configured using a V2.x tool then only the V1.x tool functions in the V2.x tool are applicable.
An example of this is the Calendar function which is applicable for system configured for use in V2.x system
and not applicable for system configured for use in V1.x system.

Starting the Nano Commissioning Tool

You can start the Nano Commissioning tool by clicking on the Nano icon or by selecting the Nano tool from the
windows programs menu,ie Start -> Program -> Nano Commissioning Tool -> Nano Commissioning tool.
