-Teacher are considered as the second parent's who guides his student. He\she is
responsible to be aware about growth and development of the students. So, it is
important that teacher should aware the learners - centered psychological principles
especially for the beginners so that they should know how to deal and handle different
attitude and traits of a students in order what should the teachers needed to consider
and apply the different abilities, capacities and traits of the students. It helps teachers to
guide the students in right direction in order to canalized student’s abilities in right
direction. A great deal of research from cognitive and educational psychology has
discovered how thinking and learning can be improved in the classroom, that teaching
and learning are intricately linked to social and behavioral factors of human
development including cognition, motivation, social interaction and communication and
these principles help students develop skills that will help them learn more effectively in
all of their classes.
- So, to recall what RA 10533 means it is known as the Enhanced basic education
curriculum it is the expanded of years schooling in basic education curriculum from 10
years it will become 12 years. Basic education is intended to meet basic learning needs
which provides the foundation on which subsequent learning can be based. It
encompasses kindergarten, elementary and secondary education. And now the
importance of applying the Learner-Centered Psychological Principles is that it is the
preparation of programs and courses provides teacher educators with opportunities to
model effective learner-centered practices and promote student motivation and learning.
Meaning, Learner-centered psychological principles provide a framework for
developing and incorporating the components of new designs for schooling. Also These
principles emphasize the active and reflective nature of learning and learners.
3. Do you think that the length of service in teaching guarantees the effectiveness
of implementing the learner-centered principles? Defend your answer.(5 pts.)
- Yes, the more that you experience a long service in teaching it guarantee the
effectiveness of implementing the learners centered principles since in that long
services I'm pretty sure that you encountered a lot features and experiences in dealing
with the different learners principles in what are the things needed to considered in
conducting learners centered principles. So that it helps the students develop skills that
will better equipped them for their professional careers. Teachers can be trained in this
approach, so they can apply the principles and provide their students with a better
learning experience
Harness:
1. Interview a 1) new and 2) seasoned teacher in your school or neighboring
schools. (Can be done face-to-face or online) List his or her practices in terms of
implementing the learner- centered principles of learning. Which among his or
her practices , do you believe is the best or is most effective?(10 pts.)
-Students learn best when they take ownership of their education and have a role in
shaping the instruction. So for me the most effective practices in conducting an
assessment to a diversity learners is that " Instruction strategies match individual
student’s needs to improve student performance" Today’s students learn best by doing,
and they discover how to learn for themselves in the process. It is here when the impact
effective teaching is most evident, as students who are at the center of their learning will
continue their journey with positive lifelong learning skills.
- This lesson focused of the Learning Principles on Development, Social and Individual
differences I have learned in this topic the different principles in developing social and
individual differences were development and social factor as well as individual
differences are considered critical factors in the capacity of learners to engage in
learning. I find out that there's a components principles needed to considered to have a
development in teaching learning process. This lesson encourage me to see a broad
vission of a teacher wherein there are a lot of things to considered the learners beliefs,
attitude, traits, cultural and every aspect in order to gain a smooth lesson. So this lesson
also focused on curriculum sources and influences and one of it's sources is the
"society as a source of curriculum, wherein i know that society is becoming multilingua
and multi cultural, developing cultural understanding and socio cultural consciousness
of a students become necessity. Other is learners as a source of curriculum this try to
align the curriculum to the needs and nature of a students, and last is discipline or
subject matter as source of curriculum means different subject are unique in terms of
design and content there are specific skills and content that should be emphasized in
each of the discipline. Another thing is about curriculum influences that identified three
major factor that influence curriculum development, the external influences, internal
influences and organizational influences that focused on academic plan. And aside by
this, these Curriculum influences focused on the influence of the students, school
vission, misssion and core values, admission and retention policies, faculty members,
school administrator and board of trustees, accrediting agencies, government policies
and agencies, market demand (general), alumni, Media and Information and
Communication and Technologies (ICT), the church and church related agencies,
school facilities and other resources and lastly the students services, So these
Curriculum influences and resources are very important in curriculum development.
Responding to these curriculum influences and resources helps curriculum workers
and developers in planning, developing, implementing, a relevant and responsive
curriculum for different learners and school.
For instance, one of the principles outlined itmakes clear that teachers’ expectations
about their students can affect students’ motivation and learning outcomes. Most
teachers’ expectations are based on students’ past performance and may be an
accurate representation. In some cases, however, if an educator has an inaccurate
perception of a student’s abilities and communicates lower expectations (verbally or
nonverbally), it could lead the student to perform in ways that confirm the faulty
expectations and adversely affect the student’s progress. To counteract this effect, the
report recommends that teachers maintain high expectations of all students and check
themselves regularly to make sure they are not treating students differently based on
their expectations.
