1. Purpose
The purpose of this method statement is to define the procedures and safety
measures for core cutting works in Level 10 DIB AL NADHA 1 .
2. Scope
This method statement applies to all core cutting works carried out in Level 10
DIB AL NADHA site and arranging necessary protections to all the associated
banking systems.
3. Responsibilities
a) Project Manager: Overall responsibility for ensuring the core cutting works are
conducted safely and efficiently.
b) Site Supervisor: Responsible for supervising the core cutting activities and
ensuring compliance with the method statement.
c) HSE officer :Ensure the whole process is as per safe system of work and HSE
plan.
Core cutting Team: Responsible for the actual core cutting work, including setup,
operation, and cleanup.
5. Procedures
Identifying the core cutting locations and mark them with the help of the
survey team.
Checking that all safety equipment, such as PPE, is available and in good
condition.
Establishing a safe work zone around the core cutting area using barrier
tape and appropriate signage.
All personnel involved in core cutting works must wear appropriate PPE,
including safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, gloves, and steel-
capped boots.

b)Drilling:
Starting the drilling process, ensuring that the core barrel is properly
aligned with the marked location.
Applying steady pressure and control the drill speed to prevent overheating
and maintain a straight hole.
c)Core cutting:
As the drill advances, the core is removed within the core barrel.
Periodically retract the drill to clear cuttings and allow for the removal of
the core .

d)Extraction:
Once the desired depth is reached, stop the drill and retract it.
Carefully extract the core sample from the core barrel. This may require
using core extractors or other tools.

Cleaning the area, ensuring that any drilling fluids or debris are properly disposed
off.

Preparing a report with the findings from core sample analysis and any relevant
recommendations for the project.

Using water for cooling and dust suppression during core cutting
to prevent overheating and airborne dust.
Periodically inspecting the core bit for wear and replace it when
necessary.
6. Emergency Procedures

SERVICES AGENCY
A first aider shall be present at site and a first aid kit will be
provided in the site office.
Competent site supervisor should be present at site to
supervise the works.
Particular Safety precautions to be taken during the execution.
All persons involved in the works will have relevant experience
and will be equipped with the required PPE.
