Form’s axis

The insert

The
working
form
This tool is used to perform the rectification of the skull orthosis in order to correct the plagiocephaly.

How it works:
With respect to the form's axis, this tool creates the symmetry of the longest head radii in the opposite
hemisphere.
By default, the symmetry is created at 100% but it can be weighted using the edit zone options.
Warning:
Since the symmetry is created in relation to the axis, the axis must be positioned exactly in the centre of your
form and the radius 0 must be perfectly adjusted to the middle of the face. If the axis of the form is not correctly
positioned then a re-scanning operation must be performed to correctly position the axis.

Difference with the opposite side (1) : Indicate in mm how much

material has been added to the form at the point where the mouse
cursor is positioned.
Undo (2) : Used to undo operations and return to a previous status
when using this tool.
Brush (3) : This zone allows you to select the shape the cursor will take
to apply the manual cloning. You can also select from 3 types of
automatic applications: on the entire head, on the left side or on the
right side only.
The check box Limit to center line (4) limits the movements of the
mouse cursor to only the side you are currently working on. When this is
option is active, the other side of the form cannot be accessed.
The Refresh (5) option is a display which shows the locations where the
mouse cursor has already passed (useful when the cloning operation is
performed manually).
The Amplitude (6) option ruler is used to weight the symmetry
operation.
The Filtering Area tool allows you to create an area with the sole aim of filtering, that is to say softening
its forms to a greater or less degree.

This tool does the same action as the filtering option in the area tool and the modelling tool, with the
exception that it is possible to freely delimit the filtering zone.

Choice of the type of smoothing (1)

This option allows you to choose the type of filtering of the
area. The higher the degree of filtering, the more the form
is levelled off.
Choose the type of contour of the area smoothed (2)
The fist icon allows you to have straight lines between the
points on the area contour.
The second icon allows you to have a contour that consists
of a curved line
Delimit the area smoothed (3)
To delimit the area smoothed, you must draw an outline for it by placing contour points with left
click on the mouse.
When all the points have been placed, click on the Finish contour button in the tool edit zone.
Insert a point (4)
To insert extra points once the contour and peak are finished, click on one of the points on this
contour or peak and use the Insert point button in the tool edit zone. The new point appears next to
the point selected, clockwise.
Delet a point (5)
To delete a point, click on one of the points in this contour or peak and use the Delete point button in
the tool edit zone.
Stretch the area smoothed (6)
As when stretching an area, to stretch an area that has been smoothed, click on the Stretch.
Once the Stretch button is engaged, you must draw a line on the area to delimit the points that will be
included in the stretch. This line will consist of two points: a starting point and a finishing point.
Finally, to stretch the form, you must drag the finishing point of the line in the direction of the stretch
required. In other words, left click on the point, hold the button down and move the mouse in the
direction of the stretch.

Advanced Tools

The Reflect tool uses the vertical axis of your form to reflect a part of your form onto the other part,
for example to reflect the left part of your form onto the right.

NB: The Reflect tool does not keep the volumes, unlike the Balance tool.
In general, this tool is used to make perfectly symmetrical library forms from scanned forms. The
library form thus constitutes a classic model of form that can be reworked and adapted for several
patients.
NB: Do not confuse with the Symmetry option.
The Symmetry option applies to one tool in particular, whereas the Reflect tool applies to all one
side of a form.
Choose the direction of application for the reflection
It is possible to choose the direction of application of the reflection in the tool's edit zone.
Left => Right: reflects the left side of the form onto the right side.
Right => Left: reflects the right side of the form onto the left side.
The Mirror tool allows you to reverse your form to obtain a form the opposite way round to the initial form.
It is therefore possible to easily create a device for a left limb if you already have the form for the right limb
and vice versa. This can be particularly useful when making library forms.
Remark: This tool does not have any specific setting in the edit zone.
To apply the Mirror tool, simply click on the icon

We have made two screen copies of the 3D zone, one

before and one after the application of the mirror tool.
As you can see, the new form replaces the first one.
NB: Do not confuse the Mirror tool with
the Symmetry option.
The Symmetry option is used to make a symmetrical
copy of a tool that has been applied to the form.
Symmetry does not delete the original tool - we
therefore have two symmetrical tools.
Whereas the Mirror tool is used to transform an initial
form into another form the other way round. We still
have only one form after applying the tool.
