Safety Precautions

* High Voltage
High voltages are used in the transmitter section which could be life threatening. A
protection cover with the words Danger High Voltage has been installed in this section
but wait 10 minutes before inspecting inside.
Even if the power switch is turned off there may still be some residual voltage present on
the capacitors inside. Before inspection or replacement of parts discharge this residual
voltage in a safe and correct manner.

* Disconnect Main Power

It is still possible to receive an electric shock caused by unintentionally switched power
during repair work. To prevent this from happening make sure to completely disconnect a
unit from ship’s main supply before attempting any kind of repair work or alteration.

* Dust
Dust can accumulate inside after long periods of use. Allergies can result from the
inhalation of this dust, therefore during inspection and cleaning it is advisable to use a
mask.

* Static Electricity
Static sensitive semiconductor devices are used in this unit. Before changing the printed
board be careful not to damage any of these devices due to electrostatic build up from
carpet, clothes, seats, etc.

Function Explanation

2-2. Outline of power supply and logic circuit performance(HGP43-7000)

System uses switching mode power supply and synchronous step-sown converter. When DC voltage is
supplied from ship’s main power source, switching regulator IC generates +5V electric currency, which
generates stable DC voltage through feedback. Synchronous step-down converter IC then generates +3.3V
electric currency.
DC voltage from ship’s main power source when equipment power is turned off is supplied to U18 Switching
Regulator IC (CM2576 500445) number 1 pin in terminal after Connector PCB; Filter Circuit, and number 2
pin out terminal generates +DC 5V electric currency.

The voltage is supplied to U20 (74LV74) D-type flip-flops and U19 (MP2109) Synchronous Step-Down
Converter IC. When front POWER S.W is pushed, U20 (74LV74) D-type flip-flops operates. Outputted signal
operates U19 (MP2109) Synchronous Step-Down Converter, and number 10 pin out terminal generates +DC
3.3V. The voltage is supplied to main CPU and near circuit, CPU operates the rest of FET (Q1, Q2) by
control program stored in memory and supply +5V DC to main board. The overall system operates when +5V
DC voltage is supplied.
When power is OFF during the operation of the overall system, CPU postpones the time of POWER OFF by
control program in order to prevent error when front key is wrongly operated.

Logic circuit consists of CPU, data storage (Internal NAND Flash), CPLD (C-CARD control) and data
transmission and reception interface. Logic circuit includes overall system control, operation, signal,
transmission and reception order and so forth. Control program and data are stored in flash memory (stored
information remains regardless of power in non-volatile memory), and CPU is operated by control program.
When front POWER S.W is pushed, power supply circuit is on and logic circuit operates. Then reset circuit
produce system reset and initialize CPU. CPU clock generation circuit produces 2 oscillation frequencies that
are supplied to CPU. While CUP is initialized, program that is stored in flash memory processes general
screen signal, map and ship location and other data.

CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) is an IC logic element that can store program. It controls data
in C-CARD(C-MAP) through CPLD. PC download and other outside data input can be conducted at (Local
Bus CPLD use) RS-232 Driver terminal.
CPU that is supplied by control program is supplied to LCD as 24bits RGB signal through LVTTL method and
operates screen. It controls (Digital Potentiometer) black light by PWM Control (Step-up Converters) IC.
