Course Code: CRIM 5 Course Title: Juvenile Delinquency and Juvenile Justice System
Course Credits: 3 units Pre-requisite: __CRIM 1__

Course Description:

This course deals with the etiology of delinquency, the theories of delinquency, deviant behaviors and factors that cause it, and the measures for deterrence and control
of teenage crime. Moreover, the course recognizes the various laws and provisions that protect the rights and welfare of children including the role of different agencies
in handling child in conflict with the law and its relationship to Philippine Juvenile Justice System and the diversion programs.

Course Objective:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

1. reiterate the Historical Perspective, Concepts and philosophies of Juvenile Delinquency;


2. describe the Nature and Extent of Juvenile Delinquency;
3. understand the Theories of Juvenile Delinquency
4. discuss the Factors and Causes of Juvenile Delinquency.
5. comprehend the Family Conditions, and the Role of the Parents and Teachers against Delinquency
6. explain Parental Rights and Disciplinary Authority over their children.
7. elucidate the Rights, Welfare, and Protection of Children under applicable Laws.
8. discuss the Juvenile Delinquency Prevention programs.
9. explain the Models of Juvenile Justice System.
10. reiterate R.A. 9344 as amended and other relevant and applicable laws and UN declarations

Class Policies

Uniform – Students are expected to wear there scheduled uniform during class.
Hair – Male cadets must observe proper haircut (3 inches by 4 inches) and must free themselves from very conspicuous beard/mustache. Female cadets with long hair are
expected to wear hairnet.
