Personal injury or death can result from high voltage.

erp
When power generation equipment must be in operation to

illa
make tests and/or adjustments, high voltage and current are
present.

rI
Improper test equipment can fail and present a high voltage
shock hazard to its user. nc.
Make sure the testing equipment is designed for and correctly
operated for high voltage and current tests being made.

When servicing or repairing electric power generation

equipment:

Make sure the unit is off-line (disconnected from utility

and/or other generators power service) , and either locked
out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE.

Remove all fuses.

Make sure the generator engine is stopped.

Make sure all batteries are disconnected.

Make sure all capacitors are discharged.

Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death. Make

sure residual voltage in the rotor, stator and the generator is
discharged.

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to

personnel working on the equipment.

To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable

from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal
surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to
prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate
the engine electrical system.
Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to
inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.

The Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) is designed to be mounted on the control panel chassis
or within the generator housing utilizing the integral mounting holes.

Functions of the Trimpots and LEDs

Table 2

Trimpot Function
"Vad" Voltage adjustment. Turning clockwise increases the voltage.
Stability adjustment, proportional and integral gain. Turning clockwise will speed
"StbPl"
up the response time.
Stability adjustment derivative gain. Turning counter clockwise will slow down
"StbD"
the response time.
Sensing
"LED on" indicates lack of phase
fault
U/f "LED on" indicates U/f acting

Note: The stability adjustment is carried out with the generator operating without load (no load)
with the trimpot "StbPl" all in clockwise, turn slowly counterclockwise until the voltage of
generator starts to fluctuate, then go back slightly (clockwise) until the voltage stabilizes. This
point will correspond to the best dynamic response.

Regulator Connectors
All connections made to the voltage regulator must be made with the 2.5mm insulated female
Faston connector that is ideal for connecting your terminals.

Regarding the cables to be used, the temperature to which the equipment will be subjected must
be respected. It is recommended to use the temperature class above 200°C. The insulation class
should be greater than or equal to 750V, and the diameter is recommended to be 1mm2.

The function of the connectors is presented in table 3.

Bench Test Diagram

Illustration 5 g06620619
For the bench test connect a lamp at the output on the F+ e F- connectors, connect at E3/4 and
3 an AC source (with breaker) and make a jumper from connector 3 to the connector E1, as
shown in figure.

1. Assemble circuit according to diagram.

2. With small screwdriver, turn the "Vad" trimpot completely counterclockwise.

3. Switch on the breaker.

4. Turn "Vad" trimpot clockwise (at a certain point, the lamp should light up).

5. With the lamp on, turn "Vad" trimpot counterclockwise (at a certain point, the lamp should
shut off).

6. Switch off the breaker.

The equipment is functional if the test results correspond to the steps described in the bench
test.
