To add, edit or remove additional local users for console / shell access.
To add, edit or remove additional local users for web GUI access.

Procedure
XMC, XIQ-SE, Control and Analytics provide the same GUI-level capability to add, edit or delete local users. Use the
table below for the GUI location where these options can be modified.

Application Location
XMC Administration -> Users
XIQ-SE Administration -> Users
Control -> Access Control -> Engines -> (select Engine) -> Engine
Control
Settings -> Network Settings
Analytics -> Configuration -> Engines -> (select Engine) ->
Analytics
Configuration -> Network Settings

NOTE: For Control and Analytics appliances any modification to the Network Settings -> Manage SSH Configuration
settings requires a separate Enforce action of the appliance to apply any changes.

Adding A User
1. Navigate to the specific "Manage SSH Configuration" location as noted above.
2. Click Manage SSH Configuration.
3. If not selected, click the checkbox next to "Manage SSH Configuration".
4. Under SSH Users, click Create.
5. Enter the username.
6. Select Type = Local
7. Enter the password.
8. If the user is to have sudo / sudoers root-level privileges, click the checkbox "Administrative User".
9. Click OK.

Editing A User
1. Navigate to the specific "Manage SSH Configuration" location as noted above.
2. Click Manage SSH Configuration.
3. Under SSH Users, highlight the desired user account.
4. Click Edit.
5. Make the necessary modifications.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Save.

Deleting A User
1. Navigate to the specific "Manage SSH Configuration" location as noted above.
2. Click Manage SSH Configuration.
3. Under SSH Users highlight the desired user account.
4. Click Delete.
5. Click Save.

To allow shell users to access the ExtremeCloud IQ - Site Engine web GUI add the username and appropriate

Authorization Group via the Authorized Users option.


1. Navigate to Administration -> Users.
2. Click Add below Authorized Users.
3. Enter the username.
4. Select the appropriate Authorization Group.
5. Click Save.

6. Logout of XIQ-SE.
7. Log in with the alternative local user credentials to validate access.

Additional notes
NOTE: The Manage SSH Configuration option is only available for the root user account on supported Ubuntu
operating systems only. For all other non-root user accounts and/or deployments on RHEL or CentOS the option will
be greyed out.

Adding, editing or deleting a user is also possible via console / shell access using the following commands. Please
note that users created using this method are not visible via the Manage SSH Configuration GUI.

Adding a User

useradd <username> --shell /bin/bash


passwd <username>

username will be created in the default /home sub-directory. If "--shell" option is omitted username will be created
with the default /bin/sh shell.

Example:

useradd localuser --shell /bin/bash


passwd localuser
Enter new UNIX password: ForgetMe
Retype new UNIX password: ForgetMe

Example:

adduser adminuser --shell /bin/bash


passwd adminuser
Enter new UNIX password: ForgetMe
Retype new UNIX password: ForgetMe
usermod -aG sudo adminuser

Editing a User

usermod <username>

Common modifications include:

--shell (or -s)


--append --groups (or -aG)
--home (or -d) [to change home location]
--move-home (or -m) [to move home location and contents]
Deleting a User

userdel <username>
