1. There are several factors affecting students learning. How do student factors, institutional and teacher
factors limit learning abilities of students?
These factors affect the learning of the students greatly. Student factors affect the student’s learning abilities
as it limits their learning, and it hinders their capabilities to fully learn and become knowledgeable. One of the
student factors is poverty. We know that education is not free. Yes, you can study to a public school, however, the
necessities and the materials you need are not provided. Thus, when a student’s family or the student are not able
to keep up with the expenses in the school (excluding the tuition as public schools are government funded), it
hinders their learning. Resulting for them to either be a working student or worst, stop attending to school. When
the school lacks learning materials or facilities, it affects the student’s learning abilities. If an institution has
inadequate physical facilities and funding, it hinders the student’s learning as it cannot accommodate them all
resulting to limited learnings. Lastly, it is the responsibility of the teacher that their student should be able to
understand the lesson. Teacher factors such as the teachers’ qualifications and values should be put into
consideration as the learning abilities of the students lies in their hands. Other than that, the teacher should be
knowledgeable enough about their subject matter and has the skills and values of the teacher as this stimulate the
student’s drive to learn.
2. Compare and contrast the three generations of learner.
Baby Boomers: Students need assistance in learning how to use computers and are pressured by activities
which requires access to internet. They are more comfortable with traditional pedagogy and expect teachers to do
everything for them. However, they exert and answer responsibility of their own learning. They strive for a
permanent career.
Emerging Workforce: Generation X: They have developed high level of independence. Students in the
generation are creative problem solvers but lack basic math skills and reading capabilities. Aside from that,
students excel at multitasking, and they adapt well in change. They want flexibility, autonomy and options on
learning life. They value money and material goods but are impatient with process and are outcome oriented.
Newest Generation: Net-Gen, Generation Y or Millennials: Students in this generation a have tendency to
focus on technology, social action, and globalization. They are the generation to grow up in an entirely digital
technological environment such as laptop computers, digital cameras, smart phones, 3d printing, drones,
holograms, and other gadgets with access to the internet's worldwide network of communication and information
resources. This generation express their experiences, opinions, comments, ideas through the so-called "social
media".
3. As a nurse educator, how will you prevent or limit barriers to learning? Cite situations or examples to
prove your point.
As a nurse educator, I can prevent or limit barriers to learning by being as diverse as I can be. I will be open
minded and understand the barriers that hinders the learning of the students. However, it is also important that the
students exert efforts just how I exert efforts to teach them. For example, when I have an activity which needs a
hardcopy output, but the school (a government funded) does not shoulder the expenses I spent in printing it,
instead of letting the students pay for the printing expenses, I would not ask that to them. To reason out, printing
may cost a lot, but I should consider that the students are here in a public school to avoid expenses. Thus, I limited
the barriers to learning of my students by aiding them the materials without any exchange.
CRITICAL THINKING 8
1. How is curriculum planning and development attained? Cite a philosophical view which you think will
answer the present educational needs of society.

Curriculum planning and development should be attained with the combination of the three educational
philosophies such as conservative view, progressive view and radical view. Through this, students are able
conceived mastery of the subject matter ad conceived direct development of the process itself. One philosophical
view I can think of that the present education needs tday is the Progressivism, This educational philosophy
stresses that students should test ideas by active experimentation. Learning is rooted in the questions of learners
that arise through experiencing the world. It is active, not passive. The learner is a problem solver and thinker who
makes meaning through his or her individual experience in the physical and cultural context. Effective teachers
provide experiences so that students can learn by doing. Curriculum content is derived from student interests and
questions. Aside from that, reconstructionism educational philosophy can also be an answer to the present
educational needs of the society. It emphasizes the addressing of social questions and a quest to create a better
society and worldwide democracy. Reconstructionist educators focus on a curriculum that highlights social reform
as the aim of education.

2. Differentiate unitary teaching from daily planning.

Unitary teaching is a teaching method that aims to facilitate and develop unitary learning specific to what
should be learned and expected or desire output. It has two types, which are the subject-matter units and process
units. Subject matter units are on the assimilation of knowledge. On the other hand, the process units emphasize
on the learner. The daily planning, however, is a plan that helps you organize each class sessions and relates these
to the development of the total unit of work.

3. What do you consider in planning and teaching in the classroom and RLE of students?
In planning and teaching in the classroom and RLE of students, you should consider the connections of the
lessons in the lecture subject to the RLE subject. For example, in the lecture subject, in NCM 101 A, where the
topic should align with the topic of RLE 101 A topic. In NCM 101 A, if you are discussing about the breast and
axillae, it should align with the RLE 101 topic to able the students to connect what they learn in the lecture
subject and apply it to the RLE subject.
