Detailed Lesson Plan in

Music V Quarter III Week Day 1

I. Objectives:
At the end of the 45-minute lesson, the students should be able to:

a. identify the different vocal timbres through singing;


b. appreciate the importance of different vocal timbres through performing a song; and
c. perform a song correctly using the different vocal timbres (soprano, alto, tenor and bass)
through group activity.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Learning Competency: identifies the following vocal timbres (soprano and alto). Code: MU5TB

B. Topic: Vocal Timbre (soprano, alto, tenor and bass)

Timbre- is the qualifying difference


Timbre is the quality or color of a sound that distinguishes between one tone and another.

Vocal timbre is the unique sound of a person’s voice. We


can learn to identify vocal timbre by listening to different voices. Vocal timbre is a sound produced by
humans.
Example: high range voices of males and females, and low
range voices of males and females.

There are two classifications of human voices.

The characteristics of soprano timbre are thin, high, or


light, bright, clear and powerful type of voice.

Example: The voice type of Leah Salonga. (the teacher


will play a short music clip of Leah’s song).
The characteristics of alto timbre are thick, low, deep and “Classification of Voices”

1. Female Voice Type or female timbre
Example: The voice of Janine Verdin. (the teacher will
play a short music clip of Janine’s song).  Soprano – the highest female
voice type

The characteristics of tenor timbre are thin, high, or light,


bright, clear and powerful type of voice.  Alto - the lowest female voice

Example: The voice of Darren Espanto. (the teacher will


play a short music clip of Darren’s song).

2. Male Voice Type or male


The characteristics of bass timbre are thick, low, deep and timbre
warm type of voice. (the teacher will play a short music clip of
Bing Rodrigo song).

The characteristics of bass timbre are thick, low, deep and  Tenor – the highest male voice
warm type of voice. (the teacher will play a short music clip of
Bing Rodrigo song).

The teacher will present sample pictures of different famous


national singers, such as; Regine Velasquez, Jaya Ramsey, Jed
Madela, and Martin Nievera.

E. ELABORATE

Class, in order for you to understand more about the lesson


that we discussed a while ago, we will have a group activity. I will
divide you into 3 groups. Boys will be group into one group and
identify yourself in which timbre do you belong, tenor or bass. For
the girls, you will be group based on your voice type or vocal
timbre. For those who have soprano timbre is together in one
group and those who have alto timbre are also together in one
group. I will give you 20 seconds to meet up your groupmates
and proceed to your respective assigned area.
I will give you 6 minutes to prepare and perform your
output presentation. Two minutes, is for the preparation, and 4 Yes, teacher.
