QUILOSA PROFESSIONAL MS 35 Construction

Sealing and Bonding

It is one of the most multi-functional elastomers. Based on the MS Hybrid Technology by Selena, it is a great
product to seal any joint or to bond any building material. Recommended to seal all kind of joints in
construction, gutters, aluminium joinery, PVC or wood. It also is an excellent product to bond metal, plastic,
mirrors, insulation panels or wood on construction, boats and caravans. Apart from its elasticity, resistance to
abrasion and its resistance to UV and weather conditions, the feature that makes it special is its capacity to
adhere on dump surfaces, even under water. It is odourless and free from isocyanates.

BENEFITS

Single-component, easy application from +5ºC to +50ºC.

Adheres without primer to the most common materials in construction and industry (glass, ceramic,
wood and derivatives, metals, PVC, methacrylates, polyester, etc.).
Neutral. It does not corrode metals or attack alkaline substrates (concrete and brick etc.).
Remains flexible from –40ºC to +90ºC.
Paintable. It does not contaminate further coats of paint.
Adheres in moistures surfaces.
Does not stain sides of joints.
Anti-mold. It does not blacken.
Excellent UV resistance and weatherability.

INTENDED USE

Sealing and bonding in construction and industry.

Sealing of bathroom and kitchen fittings.
High mould resistance.
Sealing metal roofs.
Sealing paintable cracks.
Sealing and bonding of all types of materials in DIY.
Bonding mirrors.

METHOD OF USE

Prior to application, read safety instruction presented in MSDS.

Surface preparation

Surfaces to be sealed must be clean and dry.

If necessary, in addition to mechanical means, cleaning with non-grease solvent such as acetone is
recommended.
Depth of sealant is chosen on the basis of the joint's width, according to the table (in mm):
For joint widths greater than 16 mm, and up to 35 mm depth must be one half of width.
A filler should be used in order to avoid adhesion of product to the bottom of the joint, this would
exercise unnecessary tension on the sealant. Meanwhile, regulation of its depth is achieved as well as
greater yield. The material to be used must be inert, mechanically stable, homogeneous, corrosion-
resistant, and must not adhere to either the sealant or contiguous materials.
A particularly recommendable product is closed-cell polyethylene foam, extruded in regular-section
strips, such as our POLITEN-CEL.

Product preparation

Cut off cap from adapter nipple.

Screw the nozzle on the cartridge.
Clip the tip of the nozzle to required opening.
Insert it into applicator gun.

Application

Fill in the appropriately treated joint with product.

For a better finish, protect the edges of the joint with adhesive tape and smooth with a spatula,
removing the tape before the sealant forms skin.
Instructions for bonding:
For the bonding of materials, apply the product on one of the surfaces to be joined in fine,
discontinuous and vertical cords that allow the subsequent circulation of air, and press the panel or
object on the substrate, avoiding as far as possible the rectifications. In many cases it will be convenient
to hold the panel or object with chocks or another system for a minimum of 24-48 hours.

Works after completion of application

Fresh product is easily removed with an organic solvent. When cured it can be removed by mechanical
mean only.

Remarks / restriction

Requires no protection from the weather.

It can quite easily be painted with any acrylic paint as long as it is sufficiently elastic.
However, due to the great diversity of varnishes and paints, it is recommended to do a preliminary test.
The drying time of alkyd resin based paints may increase.
The following formula is an approximate guideline to calculate foreseen yield:
Yield: L= V/(AxD), where, L = Length of sealant in metres obtained per container. V = Volume of the
container. A = Width of the joint in mm. D = Depth of the joint in mm.
Any material not known by the user, from the point of view of adherence, must be previously tested or
consult our Technical Department.

REMARKS / RESTRICTION

It is advisable to carry out a preliminary test on materials in which there is no previous experience with this
product. Our Technical Department is available for any type of consultation or test.
