General information
This trouble shooting guide mainly lists possible errors of X-ray inspection units type HI-SCAN 10080 EDt S as well
as measures to correct such errors. Other errors that may probably be corrected by the operating personnel are de-
scribed in the respective operating instruction.
a scribed
Observe the Safety instructions at the beginning of this manual when undertaking any of the work de-
below!
i To do a successful trouble shooting it is essential that you correct the errors according to the order of er-
rors listed in this guide, i.e. errors in the power supply system have to be corrected before looking for er-
rors in the X-ray generating system.
i Switch off the communication among individual subsystems temporarily (service menu page 2) in order
to localize the error systematically (see section Test- and diagnosis programs).
i In section "System description" you find a survey on the functions of individual subsystems that are need-
ed for trouble shooting. Please find the valid circuit diagrams in the appendix of this manual.
i You should, in any case, check the status indicators on the system monitor. Here you find important infor-
mation on the current status of the unit.
i In the general plan Z 5507593-Z you find the positions of the individual electrical components.
There are some test and diagnostic programs available for trouble shooting purposes. Such programs are detailed
in section Test and diagnosis programs.
Besides that, you should pay attention to the LEDs of the individual components which also give you some informa-
tion on possible causes of error. The function of the respective LEDs is partly described in the modules’ adjustment
instructions.
i When doing a trouble shooting, use the circuit diagram in the appendix of this manual.

the X-ray inspection unit or the substitute generator has not been operated for more than 2 months, you
to carry out a regeneration. The corresponding information can be obtained from the Adjustment in-
structions of the generator control. The non-respect of this instruction may lead to the destruction of the

i To quickly test or trace signals, use the I/O test in the diagnosis menu.
i Check the error report in the menu Diagnosis. If errors are listed in the report which led to a stop of the X-
ray generator, correct these errors (see paragraph "Error messages, (f 40).
i Check the generators via the test program X-ray generator test and proceed with the appropriate para-
graph.

The error "no X-rays" may have various causes. In order to localize the source of error as fast as possible, observe
the LEDs on the XRC board. The positions of the LEDs, switches and test points can be read from the illustration be-

Internal errors
i If an internal or unknown error occurs, either the software is defective, corrupt or misconfigured or the Hi-
TraX electronics are defective.
Before continuing with the trouble shooting, you should try to reset the software configuration to the default status
by resetting the dongle (section "Software installation and configuration"). Then you have to adapt the settings to
the unit via the Hardware menu. This way you will avoid operating troubles caused by wrong software configuration.
If the error cannot be corrected by resetting the dongle to the default status, you have to re-install the software (sec-
tion "Software installation and configuration").
a Before re-installing the software you should, if possible, memorize the data of the hard disk (user data,
images etc.)! Use the ZIP disks (operating instructions) or a network connection.
a hard
If you carry out a re-installation of the software, the date of the last generator operation memorized on the
disk will, among other things, be lost! Warning messages can therefore not be automatically gener-
ated!
If you are not sure that the X-ray generator has been operated within the last 2 months (140kV genera-
tors), put the X-ray generator out of operation and carry out a regeneration after having installed the soft-
ware (see section "Hardware configuration")!
e If the error cannot be corrected by means of a re-installation of the software, exchange the HiTraX electronics.
Special errors
Wrong or missing options and menus
If there are wrong, i.e. new or unknown menus on the HiTraX application surface, or if there are wrong options acti-
vated, or if menus or options are missing, check the Dongle-ID in the Configuration display of the Diagnosis menu.
If it is FFFFFFFF or 00000000, the dongle is defective and must be replaced. If it is not FFFFFFFF or 00000000, proceed
according to the instructions given in paragraph "Internal errors" (f 81).
Other errors
If errors other than those mentioned above have occurred, see paragraph "Internal errors" (f 81).
