SCROLL BAR: (Vertical and Horizonal) The scroll bars are used in conjunction with the mouse to
enable us view different parts of our document; Upward, downward, forward or backward. The vertical
scrollbar is located at the right hand side of the program’s environment before the color palette while the
horizontal scroll bar is located at the bottom of the program’s environment (at the top of the status bar).
COLOR PALETTE: The color palette is a bar that runs along the side the of the vertical scrollbar.
(Immediately after the vertical scrollbar) of the screen where the color can be applies to selected objects.
TOOLBOX: As the name implies, it is a box that houses the instruments or tools used in coreldraw.
PICK TOOL: This tool is used mainly to select an object, resize and move and rotate objects.
ZOOM TOOL: This tool is used to change the viewing size and position of the screen. Once selected,
the zoom sub-tools appear.
PENCIL OR FREEHAND TOOL: This is a freehand drawing tool. Click on it and move to your page,
then hold down the left mouse button and continue to drag as you like but do not release the left mouse
until you have finished drawing. From the dropdown menu you have other options like knife, eraser and
free transform tool.
RECTANGLE TOOL: This tool is used to create rectangle or square objects. To draw with it, select the
tool, hold the left button down on the page, drag it to any direction and leave the left mouse when you
have finished drawing.
To draw a square object, hold down the Ctrl key before you start to draw
ARRANGING OBJECTS/TEXT: By default, the last object drawn or placed on a page is the one that is
on top of the other object(s). Cases may arise where objects on top may not appear on top. There are ways
to adjust this problem.
SEND TO FRONT: This command sends the selected object to the front. Select the object/text, click on
send to front through the order from the arrange menu.
SEND TO BACK: This command sends the selected object to the back. Select the object/text, click on
forward on through order from the arrange menu.
SEND BACK ONE: This sends the selected object/text a step backward one step. Select the object/text,
click on backward one through order from the arrange menu.
TO GROUP OBJECTS/TEXT:
This command allows you to group more than one object together so that they can be treated as one.
Select the objects by pressing down shift key and clicking on the objects. Click on group through order
from the arrange menu.
TO UNGROUP OBJECT/TEXT: This command is the reverse of the group command; it returns each
object to its independent status. Select the grouped objects, click on ungroup through order from the
arranged menu.
Type ROOTBUOY COMPUTER SCHOOL, make a circular path, select the text and path click on fit
text to path from the text menu. You may need to make some changes to suite your desire from the
property bar.
SHOW RULERS: This command either displays or hides the horizontal rulers. Click on Rulers from the
view menu.
This command removes all the colors, which have been applied to objects, and allows you see all the lines
that make the objects up. Draw and fill an object, click on simple wire frame or wire frame from the view
menu. To restore it properly, you click on normal from the view menu.
1) POINTER: This tool function facilities that is used for selecting and deselecting of
object, copying and moving files from one application to another application. You must
select an object or text before you can make changes to it. You can select objects without
fills by clicking anywhere within the outline. Click on the objects outline to select it if
you are working with unfilled and filled objects that overlap, you may find it useful to
select objects by the outline.
TO SELECT AN OBJECT:
a) To choose the pick tool, you strike the SPACEBAR or CTRL + SPACEBAR if the
text tool is selected in edit mode.
b) You can strike TAB KEY to select the next object, or press SHIFT + TAB to select
the previous object.
