My grandmother gave me a push into the right direction to buy a
camera while we were having coffee together on a Sunday
afternoon. That was in 2007. From that moment on, photography
has grown into an indispensable part of my life.
Through photography I had the chance to meet a lot of wonderful
people with whom I collaborated on great ideas and spent a
fantastic time. Letting my imagination run wild and working with
people, without being restricted by any external requirements is
motivating me to go on. Photography means a lot to me, not only
because it has changed me as a person, but because it just lifts
me up, even if a day is not going so well. Just switch the
camera on, switch the problems off and find myself again.

I’m autodidact. In 2007 I bought my first SLR camera.

It was a Canon 400D with the Canon 50mm f/1.4. Since 2009 I am
working only on people photography. I photograph only digital.
In 2011 I bought my new baby the Canon 5D Mark II and the Canon
24-70mm f/2.8. The 50mm and the 24-70mm are my favorite
objectives.

I use the Canon 50mm f/1.4 outdoors only. If I work indoors I

use the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 and the Canon 50mm f/1.4 with a
softbox from Proxistar 60 x 60 cm or a 95cm Phottix Oktagon
Softbox with the Yongnuo YN-560 II speedlite. That’s it!

The only and important thing for me in order to make good

pictures is to create a connection between the model and myself.
If there is no connection I can’t take emotional pictures.
That’s why the communication before every shooting is so
crucial. With some models the connection is great from the first
© Claudia Wycisk moment of meeting each other, but this doesn’t always happen.
But that’s ok, too.

FLATLAND
Aydın Büyüktaş, inspired by the book of Edwin Abbat “Flatland:
A Romance of Many Dimensions” created his series called “Flatland”, in
which he sets the foundations of a dimension where a space of surprises
creates a space that creates suprises. We live in places that most of
the times don’t draw our attention, places that transform our memories,
places that the artist gives another dimension; where the perceptions
that generally crosses our minds will be demolished and new ones will
arise. These works aims to leave the viewer alone with a surprising
visuality ironic as well, multidimensional romantic point of view.

- It was the year 2006. While I was reading “Hyperspace” the book of
Michio Kaku, he was using examples from “Flatland: A Romance of Many
Dimensions” of Edwin Abbot. I discovered the book like this. I was very
impressed by the book written in 1884 exemplifying the difficulties in
comprehending the way of interconnecting the dimensions and the
inter-dimensional transition. The fact that the book tried to tell the
inter-dimensional transition and the third dimension in second dimension
corresponded to my inquiry about the third dimension. © Aydın Büyüktaş

Playing with paradoxes and mixing-up real environments with surreal
interferences is the most fun during my ordinary day life.
When I walk down the street, I shoot anything that catches my attention,
creating an immense archive of photos. The creation of a new dreamscape
happens at a later stage in the concept: thanks to my pool of images, the
editing process is then almost immediate through the use of iPhone apps
like PsTouch, iDesign, Superimpose, MatterApp e Mextures.

My influences are a chimerical blend of the metaphysical imagery in De

Chirico with a love for Bauhaus geometry and the pop culture of Warhol and
Lichtenstein all with the addition of some sci-fi retro.
I love that anyone can enjoy a ride in my amusement park. Just like going
on a roller-coaster!

photograph can be taken in an instant whereas a photograph created by
shooting a plate can take up to an hour or longer. "So - to make just one
single picture - you will have to go through the whole process: cleaning
the glass, pouring the plate with collodion, sensitize, exposure,
