Portfolio Overall Performance Analysis:
The amount I had invested into the stock market was $82,304.70 dollars. My portfolio
currently has $80,007.20, this was a drop in the value for my portfolio as it was originally higher
making this not a very good investment. Most of my bought stocks were in the technology sector
of the market. The technology sector is a very popular one especially these days though it seems
I have had the misfortune of not picking very good ones. My second sector that took about 20%
of my portfolio was the media sector which is constantly changing though the companies that
were media was EA and Nintendo in which they were steady though they ended mostly in a
decline negatively affecting my portfolio.

What I feel like could have helped my performance for my portfolio was doing a lot more
research on what the companies were working on and determining if it can improve over time so
I can buy and earn more. The second thing would be choosing more popular stocks since the
more the investments the more the company will be pushed to do better and make improvements
raising their numbers. Finally I would have more diversified my stocks within my Portfolio to
lessen the risk of one section dropping making my whole portfolio drop off.

Company: Unity Software

Ticker: U

Sector: Technology

Capitalization: 10,377,991,888

Purchase Price: 26.79

Profile:
Unity Software Inc provides a software platform for creating and operating interactive, real-time 3D
content. The platform can be used to create, run and monetize interactive, real-time 2D and 3D
content for mobile phones, tablets, PCs, consoles, and augmented and virtual reality devices. The
business is spread across the United States, Greater China, EMEA, APAC and Other Americas, of
which key revenue is derived from the EMEA region. The products are used in the gaming industry,
architecture and construction sector, animation industry, and designing sector.

Performance: Unity was the most consistent out of all of the other stocks that I had ever bought
throughout this stock market project while building my portfolio. Plus with the chart it only went
down by a small amount compared to the other stocks I bought which declined quickly or spiked
up then dropped.

4
Profile: EA is one of the world's largest third-party video game publishers and has transitioned from a
console-based video game publisher to the one of the largest publishers on consoles, PC, and mobile. The firm
owns number of large franchises, including Madden, FIFA, Battlefield, Apex Legends, Mass Effect, Dragon's
Age, and Need for Speed.

Company: EA

Ticker: EA

Sector: Media

Capitalization: 33,985,590,602

Purchase Price: 141.5

Performance: EA had a steady decline so it seems like I bought it way to early and at the highest
price there was before buying it and it had gone down by 10% and did not do very well
compared to other stocks

5
Profile: Amazon is a leading online retailer and one of the highest-grossing e-commerce aggregators,
with $386 billion in net sales and approximately $578 billion in estimated physical/digital online
gross merchandise volume in 2021. Retail-related revenue represents approximately 80% of the total,
followed by Amazon Web Services' cloud computing, storage, database, and other offerings (10%-
15%), advertising services (5%), and other. International segments constitute 25%-30% of Amazon's
non-AWS sales, led by Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Company: Amazon

Ticker: AMZN

Sector: Consumer Discretionary

Capitalization: 1,963,730,593,210

Purchase Price: 174.90

Performance: Amazon at the start had it’s drop after I bought it but it made good changes and
rose up over the weeks and then dropped again but it didn’t hurt my Portfolio too much and it
actually helped with bringing a positive percentage increase of change rather than a negative
change near the end

6
Company: Nintendo

Ticker: NTDOY

Sector: Media

Capitalization: 54,765,110,131

Purchase Price: 14.32

Profile: Nintendo started its video game console business in 1983 by launching the NES, and started
its portable console business in 1989 by launching the Game Boy. Since then, the firm has focused
on expanding the gaming population by delivering unique entertainment experiences on its original
console systems; the Wii and Nintendo DS are its most popular hardware. However, Nintendo not
only makes game consoles, but also owns world-renowned IPs such as Super Mario, Pokemon, and
Zelda, which have been a source of cash flow for more than a quarter-century. 2020 was the 35th
anniversary of Super Mario, Nintendo's most famous character.

Performance: Nintendo was the second worst and brought my portfolio down with a change
percentage of -14 percent and had only gradually declined over the weeks without barely a sign
of improvement to try and help itself until the very very end.

Profile: Apple designs a wide variety of consumer electronic devices, including smartphones
(iPhone), tablets (iPad), PCs (Mac), smartwatches (Apple Watch), AirPods, and TV boxes (Apple
TV), among others. The iPhone makes up the majority of Apple's total revenue. In addition, Apple

7
offers its customers a variety of services such as Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Care, Apple TV+,
Apple Arcade, Apple Card, and Apple Pay, among others. Apple's products run internally developed
software and semiconductors, and the firm is well known for its integration of hardware, software
and services. Apple's products are distributed online as well as through company-owned stores and
third-party retailers. The company generates roughly 40% of its revenue from the Americas, with the
remainder earned internationally.

Company: Apple Inc.

Ticker: APPL

Sector: Technology

Capitalization: 2,830,211,514,740

Purchase Price: 180.81

Performance: Apple had a big drop after I bought it within the week and steadied out for a while before
having a spike in profits for the better but of course with highs there has to be a low and it eventually
drops leaving a negative percentage in change of 6%.

8
Profile: Microsoft develops and licenses consumer and enterprise software. It is known for its
Windows operating systems and Office productivity suite. The company is organized into three
equally sized broad segments: productivity and business processes (legacy Microsoft Office, cloud-
based Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Skype, LinkedIn, Dynamics), intelligence cloud
(infrastructure- and platform-as-a-service offerings Azure, Windows Server OS, SQL Server), and
more personal computing (Windows Client, Xbox, Bing search, display advertising, and Surface
laptops, tablets, and desktops).

Company: Microsoft

Ticker: MSFT

Sector: Technology

Capitalization: 3,064,488,324,982

Purchase Price: 408.92

9
Performance: Microsoft was a very interesting company as you can see from the line graph chart
it had a spike then a grace period of staying the same about and then in the end dropping down.
This company had a small negative change with a small -1% so it wasn’t the worst but it wasn’t
the best for my portfolio.

Profile: Sony Group is a conglomerate with consumer electronics roots, which not only designs,
develops, produces, and sells electronic equipment and devices, but also is engaged in content
businesses, such as console and mobile games, music, and movies. Sony is a global top company of
CMOS image sensors, game consoles, professional broadcasting cameras, and music publishing, and
is one of the top players on digital cameras, wireless earphones, recorded music, and movies, and so
on. Sony's business portfolio is well diversified with six major business segments. The company fully
consolidated Sony Financial in September 2020, which provides life and non-life insurance, banking,
and other financial services.

Company: Sony

Ticker: SONY

Sector: Technology

Capitalization: 95,326,656,973

Purchase Price: 86.18

Performance: Sony was a steady company until the 5th week of this project and then had a
steady decline unlike some of the others who had a drastic drop after a spike so this wasn’t bad

10
though it did hurt the portfolio with a negative percentage once again at -4% but it wasn’t the
worst.

Profile: Helmerich & Payne has the largest fleet of U.S. land drilling rigs. The company's FlexRig
line is the leading choice to drill horizontal wells for production of U.S. tight oil and gas. H&P is
present in nearly every major U.S. shale play and also has a small presence internationally.

Company

Ticker: HP

Sector: Energy

Capitalization: 3,877,907,669

Purchase Price: 38.40

Performance: This stock was the second best out of every single stock by having a 5% positive
change within its stock price range. Sure it had its lows near the end but it did far better than I
thought as it was one of the last minute stocks that needed to be added to make a full portfolio.

11
Profile: As the world's largest parcel delivery company, UPS manages a massive fleet of more than
500 planes and 100,000 vehicles, along with many hundreds of sorting facilities, to deliver an
average of about 25 million packages per day to residences and businesses across the globe. UPS'
domestic U.S. package operations generate 62% of total revenue while international package makes
up 20%. Air and ocean freight forwarding, truckload brokerage, and contract logistics make up the
remainder.

Company: UPS

Ticker: UPS

Sector: Industrials

Capitalization: 126,674,057,692

Purchase Price: 146.78

Performance: As you can see from the chart there was a heavy decline during the week till the
29th and it had drastically dragged the stock downwards causing it to have a lower percentage
change though it did have it’s change during other weeks bringing it to a positive change by 1%.

12
Profile: Wells Fargo is one of the largest banks in the United States, with approximately $1.9 trillion
in balance sheet assets. The company is split into four primary segments: consumer banking,
commercial banking, corporate and investment banking, and wealth and investment management.

Company: Wells Fargo

Ticker: WFC

Sector: Finance

Capitalization: 213,641,405,138

Purchase Price: 54.40

Performance: This stock was the best having a positive change of 10% this was yet another filler
to finish up and make a full portfolio which seems to be the best thing that happened to this
portfolio. This stock had a stagnant pace until the 12th when it had a sudden uprise making it
very steady and not having drastic drops like some other stocks making this one very
dependable.

13
Diversification overview

Diversification analysis: The sector that I picked the most of was the technology sector
containing a lot of tech companies. Like Apple Inc and Microsoft as well as gaming designing
companies such as Sony. My second sector that I had the most of was the media sector with a
small portion of game creators like EA and Nintendo. The problem with this is that if one sector
did badly in which had happened, it would crash the whole portfolio and have a negative effect
on the outcome once all stocks are sold. I wish I had not invested in tech companies since I know
a lot of tech has drastic highs and lows as there are always problems with technology. My
portfolio is diversified decently well since I do have 5 sections dedicated to other sectors other
than technology. The only problem is that there should be more sectors than just 6. I feel like if I
had read a bit more into the companies I would have spread my portfolio out more.

14
Fund Analysis: The fund I chose was VGIAX (Vanguard Growth and Income
Fund Admiral Shares) this fund included three of my stocks; Apple Inc, Wells
Fargo, and Amazon.com, two out of the three being part of the tech sector
representing my overall portfolio. This portfolio did far better than mine as it had a
positive return of 5.21% while mine ended with a -43% although Growth funds
tend to be the most risky so my portfolio being similar to it makes it show that a
fund would have been best in my case. It also would have been best had I
diversified a lot more similarly to the fund. I believe I could have done better had I
done far more research on the companies and their past records in earnings and of
course it would have been a little less risky than my own picking of stocks.

15
Reflection
What I have learned from this project is that companies have a lot more ups and downs
than I originally thought. As I watched the stocks, I bought from what I thought were constant
earning companies crash downwards over weeks. I also learned that I should have more
diversified my stocks

A way I can incorporate what I have learned into my future is that if I were to buy stocks
and take that risk to diversify or to get a professional to help me pick and choose my stocks.
Also, I can apply my learning of better managing my money, so I do not have much of a risk
while buying.
