7.1.1.4 The VAT is the Marine Manager’s advisory group in the field of vessels acceptance
comprising of representatives from Marine Contracting Unit and QA&CU. The team
is to ensure that all Contractual, Operational and Safety requirements are met.

7.1.1.5 Prior to presenting the Vessel to Saudi Aramco for On-Hire Inspection, the
Contractor Port Engineer and Port Captain will carry out their own sea trial and
confirm that the Vessel is ready in all respects for the On-Hire Inspection to
proceed. Copy of the inward clearance and crew list for the vessel is to be sent by
Operations to QA&CU when requesting an on-hire inspection.

It is mandatory that a Contractor Representative (either Port Engineer or Port


Captain or both) be in attendance at the on-hire inspection of the vessel.

7.1.1.6 As applicable, the Marine Operations Western Region (MODWR) Superintendent


will assign an Operations Foreman, to complete the following:

 Manning Contracts: Crew checks such as verifying the validity of the


vessel’s officer’s certification and associated paperwork. Refer to MIM
1200.003 Review, Evaluation and Monitoring of Contractors Officers.

 Full Charter Contracts: Vessel inspection including verifying the validity of


the vessel officer’s certification and associated paperwork, as well as
performing requisite operational checks on the vessel’s navigational
equipment.

7.1.2 Crew and/or Vessel Inspection & Sea-Trial Results

7.1.2.1 In the Eastern Region, the QA&CU Officer will write up the inspection and sea-trial
report for the vessel, incorporating all report findings relative to the vessel, officers
and crew.

7.1.2.2 In the Western Region, the Engineering Group will write up the report for the
Superintendent MODWR.

7.1.2.3 The inspection is to be conducted against the following requirements:

a. Contract
b. Safety (BMVSR and, if applicable, OVID)
