PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to use less paper for A4 print pages 1 - 8 and for US print pages 1 -
7 and follow the steps set out in the instructions.

Trim edges on borderline and have arrows touch to create a X

1. Stack pages together or alternatively repeat this step one at a time and remove right and bottom
border. You will have excess pattern to the left of your paper as we didn’t trim this border. This acts as a
buffer in that if you remove too much or too little there is still excess pattern on the left side.

2. Place page 1 over the top of page 2 covering the left border and lay down so that the arrow connect
to create an ‘X’.

3. Place a small tab of tape on each X and repeat untill all pages are taped together.

4. With the small tabs done and all pages connected go back in with long lengths of tape now that you
are happy with the patterns assembly.

Please note: The above pattern is not the exact pattern you will receive and just example imagery 3

The standard height of a fabric roll is roughly 150cm. The pattern

has been adapted to fit this standard height so that there is no
center back seam and the bolero is one continous length. If your
fabric is taller than this standard height you can flip the sewing pattern

of the sewing pattern in each of it’s sizes. No fabric allowance has been included - please add

MODIFICATIONS

The sewing pattern is designed to have gathering as indicated in image one. If you wish
to modify the pattern to resememble image two please refer to the tip below:

STEP 2: 7 - 14 CM
The segment in pink is the gathering that sits under
STEP 1: 14 CM your arms. For every centimetre you remove here
you will remove 0.5 - 1 centimetre along the center
back - the amount will depend on your fabric and
how stretchy it is. In this example I have removed
14cm (this is the maximum amount) so I have there-
for removed 14 cm from the center back.

Let’s Start!
Seam Allowances: The main body of the top is overlocked/serged and caters to a seam allow-
ance of 0.5-0.7cm (the standard width of an overlocker/serger).

Hemming: The Bolero is hemmed catering to a 2cm hem allowance.

Step 1.

Lay out your fabric flat

Step 2.

Fold your fabric in half vertically

Step 3.

Step 4.

Place your sewing pattern on top and pin into place

Step 5.

Cut out your sewing pattern

Step 5.

Lay out your fabric flat good side of the fabric facing up

Step 6.

Fold the fabric in half lengthways adding pins in the areas indicated

Step 7.

Overlock/Serge or Zig Zag stitch the side seams

Step 8.

Turn the Bolero inside out

Step 9.

Seam Allowance: 2cm

Mark 2cm along the perimeter of the sleeve ends

Step 10.

Fold, pin and repeat for both the sleeves and the main body of the bolero.
Finish with a ZigZag or coverstitch.

OPTIONAL FINISH

The main body of the bolero can sometimes roll over and expose your thread so be sure to
finish cleanly and use a similar thread colour to your fabric. If you don’t like the finish of a
ZigZag or coverstitch though you can also try the following method.

Step 1.1

As set out in step 9 - mark 2cm along the perimeter of the garment and pin into place.

Step 2.1.

Flip the folded seam back onto itself and pin. This should result in 3 layers of fabric pinned
together

Step 3.1
.
Overlock this edge and the 3 layers of fabric together. This can also be done with a ZigZag
stitch but trial this first with scrap fabric

Step 4.1
.
Flip over and press for a clean finish

Goodluck with your Sewing Project!

Happy Sewing!
