(Trader's Scheduler's Workbench) : Prerequisites
(Trader's Scheduler's Workbench) : Prerequisites
Trader's and Scheduler's Workbench (TSW) provides functions for stock projection and planning and
scheduling shipments using nominations. TSW provides the relevant master data to model the supply
chain. The stock projection, planning, and nomination processes enable the scheduler to schedule
shipments while taking into account supply, demand, and available transportation.
Prerequisites
The TSW Customizing structure is available in the SAP ECC Customizing. You can view
it by going to Customizing and choosing Logistics Execution -> TSW (Trader's and
Scheduler's Workbench).
To use the TSW component, you must activate TSW in your current system and client.
To do this, in Customizing choose TSW (Trader's and Scheduler's
Workbench) Basic Functions Specify TSW control parameters and select the TSW
active indicator.
The location in the upper left of the diagram is effectively an origin (supply) location, while the
location in the lower right is effectively a destination (receiving) location. However, each
location can be defined to act as both an origin and destination. Master data objects in the SAP
system, such as customers, vendors, or plants are linked to the locations and transport
system using TSW partner roles.

MASTER DATA
Business Scenario
Transport Units: Transport units are the building blocks used to create a vehicle.
Depending on the type of transport unit, you can assign one or more compartments to a transport
unit. Some types of transport units do not require a compartment.
Usage: Transport units must be assigned to at least one vehicle master record before they can be
used. A vehicle is made up of at least one transport unit.
Relationship: There is also a one-to-many relationship between transport units and vehicles, in that a
transport unit can be assigned to several vehicles. Validation checks ensure that a transport unit is not
scheduled for more than one vehicle in the same shipment.
General Data area of the Transport Unit: Details screen. These attributes cannot be changed. You can
change the transport unit status from the default of available, to not available, or to be deleted. The
status determines whether or not the transport unit can be assigned to a vehicle. For a successful
assignment, the status has to be available.
Transport Unit Attributes area of the screen together with the unit of measure for the dimensions. The
transport unit maximum volume is calculated from the total maximum volume of all compartments
assigned to the transport unit. We can store additional info like transport unit ID and transportation
planning point. The equipment number is linked to the Plant Maintenance (PM) application component.
Transport unit types: Transport unit types are a means of grouping together different transport
units according to certain characteristics.
The default weight unit of measure for the transport unit, which may be changed when
you create the transport unit.
The default volume unit of measure for the transport unit, which may be changed when
you create the transport unit.
Text
A short text describing the transport unit which may be used as part of the selection
criteria when using the transport unit within the system.
You can only assign compartments to the transport unit if the transport unit type selected has a
load-bearing capacity.
1. Choose Logistics ->Sales and Distribution -> Bulk scheduling -> Master Data ->
Transport Unit -> Create. The Create Transport Unit: Initial screen appears.
2. Enter the transport unit type, and choose ENTER. This takes you to the detail screen for
creating a transport unit.
NOTE: The system automatically provides a number for the transport unit if you leave the
transport unit field blank on the initial screen.
NOTE: You can create a new transport unit using master data from a transport unit that already
exists, by entering the number of the existing transport unit in the Transport unit field of
the Copy from the area of the screen. The system copies the data from the transport unit which
already exists. You can change the proposed data while creating the new transport unit.
Certain attributes of the transport unit, which are determined when you choose the
transport unit type, are displayed and cannot be changed. They are:
3way Pegging
It is used to plan and schedule bulk shipments based on supply and demand
information. The term three-way refers to demand items (stock requirements
or customer requests), supply avails (what is produced, purchased, or in stock),
and transportation avails (vehicles, vessels, or pipelines available to complete
the shipment).
Nomination
Ticketing
This object is an official notice sent by a partner, such as a carrier, that is sent by
fax or e-mail and contains information about the movement of product. Tickets
are entered in Traders and Schedulers Workbench (TSW) either automatically by
electronic interchange using the Intermediate Document (IDoc) format, or by
manually entering the ticket data in the system. If you receive incomplete tickets
as IDocs from the carrier, you have to process these manually.
Laytime/Demurrage
Laytime is the time period during which a vessel is at a port or berth. Demurrage
is the contractually agreed penalty that is due when a vessel remains too long at a
location during load or discharge operations.

What-If
Use of the what-if dialog box and what-if clipboard to simulate the effect of
nominations on inventory figures in the Stock Projection Worksheet. You use
the What-If dialog box to create simulated nominations by either entering new
nomination data or based on an existing nomination. You can add what-if
nominations from the What-If to the What-If Clipboard. You can also use
the clipboard to collect what-if nominations across multiple Stock Projection
Worksheets.
When what-if nominations are applied to the Stock Projection Worksheet, the
system transfers the quantities to the what-if columns of the Stock Projection
Worksheet. When what-if nominations are published, the system creates a new
nomination or updates an existing nomination.
The what-if clipboard is user-specific, so that the data is only visible to the user
who added the what-if nominations to the clipboard. What-if data that you apply to
the Stock Projection Worksheet or that you publish is visible to all users, because
this information updates the Stock Projection Worksheet.
Berth Scheduling
Berth scheduling provides an up-to-date overview of the events and inventory
positions at a port and for vessel activities at a port. Berth scheduling includes
functions to support the processes involved in loading, discharging, and lightering
vessels. During berth scheduling, you create a carrier nomination and assign a
specific vessel to a location, such as a berth at a port or a lightering location.
Worklist
The Worklist process consists of generating the Worklist and using the generated
Worklist report to view a list of action items. You can generate the Worklist in
dialog mode or as a background job.
Using the Worklist, you can view open issues, such as quantities that are
unscheduled, nominations that are not balanced, and nominations for which tickets
have not been received.
