Teaching Methodology:
• 2 hours lectures, 1 hour tutorial, 3 lab hours per week
Mode of examination:
• 50% Continuous Assessment (CAT 10%, assignments 5%, Practicals 35%),
Examination 50%
Practicals – Labs (15%):
• CAD/CAM lab
• OpenModelica
Practicals – Project (20%):
• To be done in pairs, topics to be given during the 5th week.

What is a mechatronic System?
A modular system designed using a multidisciplinary approach in engineering, which
combines electrical, mechanical and computer engineering disciplines, with the
objective of developing simplifying, optimizing and improving the output
characteristics of the system
