BROW MAPPING STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL

01 STEP

Mark the center of the face with an inked thread.

Use the client’s eyes and forehead to determine the center of the
face. Do not determine the center of the client’s face using the
nose or cupid’s bow since this tends to be crooked or unbalanced.
This is determined using your eyes and your sense of symmetry.

02 STEP

Apply the sticker ruler onto the client’s forehead making sure the
center line on the sticker ruler lines up with the line you created in
Step #1.

Make sure you have enough space under the sticker ruler to draw
and conceal the arch.

03 STEP

Mark the highest point of the eyebrows.

Create a horizontal line with the inked thread to mark the highest
point of the eyebrows on one eyebrow. If the eyebrows are
asymmetrical, meet in the middle. Check the measurements of the
horizontal line on the sticker ruler and replicate the horizontal line
on the other eyebrow.

04 STEP

Find the arch.

Create a vertical line with the inked thread to mark the tip/center
of the arch on one eyebrow. I tend to use the client’s natural brow
hair to find her arch. Using the measurement on the sticker ruler,
replicate the line on the other eyebrow.

Mark the center of the arch.

Using a fine-point Sharpie pen, mark a point where the two lines
meet. This is point #1.

06 STEP

Find the front of the eyebrows.

Before we mark the front of the eyebrow, I cut off the center of
the sticker ruler. Create a vertical line to mark the front of the
eyebrows. Replicate on the other side using the measurements on
the sticker ruler.

07 STEP

Determine the length of the eyebrow and where the tail ends.

Create a diagonal line to mark the end of the tail. This is

determined by using the client’s natural brow hair, the edge of her
eyes and/or the client’s personal beauty preference. Replicate on
the other side.

08 STEP

Map the shape of the eyebrows using the natural shape of the
client’s eyebrows.

Using the inked thread create the rest of the brow. I generally
follow my client’s natural brow shape. Create a line for the top of
the body of the brow, the bottom of the body of the brow, the top
of the tail and the bottom of the tail. Take into consideration any
natural asymmetry in the other eyebrow.

09 STEP

Find the remainder of the significant points of the eyebrows.

There should be 5 points total. Mark these points using a fine-point

Sharpie. Make a point at the top of the front, bottom of the front,
bottom of the arch, and the tail.

Clean up any excessive lines using an alcohol prep pad or a water wipe.

This is to keep your work area clean and not distracting.

11-13 STEP

Replicate the other eyebrow.

Find the front of the other eyebrow by creating horizontal lines across the middle
of the face. Make sure the two horizontal lines are parallel to each other to ensure
they are even. Double check your measurement using a caliper to measure the two
points at the front of the eyebrow. Once you’ve double checked the measurement,
mark the top and bottom of the front of the second eyebrow by using a Sharpie.
Measure the distance between the top of the arch and the bottom of the arch from
the first eyebrow and replicate those points on the second eyebrow. Measure the
distance between the tail and the edge of the eye on the first eyebrow using a
caliper to replicate point #5 on the second brow.

Now that you have all 5 points on the second brow, connect those
points using an ink thread.
