a.

5 × 5 = 25
5cm
25 × 6 = 150cm2

b.

3.7 × 3.7 = 13.69

3.7cm
13.69 × 6 = 82.14cm2

2. Find the surface area of each of the cuboids below.

a. 3 × 10 = 30

3 × 11 = 33
3cm 11cm
10 × 11 = 110
10cm
(110 + 30 +33) × 2 = 346cm2

b.
12.3 × 11.9 = 146.37

12.3cm 12.3 × 21.5 = 264.45

11.9cm
21.5 × 11.9 = 255.85
21.5cm

(146.37 + 264.45 + 255.85) × 2 = 1333.34cm2

3. Find the surface area of each of the triangular prisms below.

a. 7.2 × 8 = 57.6

12 × 8 = 96

9. Ian is painting the outside of his cuboidal bin storage. The bin storage has 4 sides and a
top, but no bottom. It is 1.5m tall, 1.25m wide and 0.75m deep.
Each tin of pain costs £6.99 and will cover 5m2. How much will Ian spend on paint?
1.5 × 1.25 = 1.875
1.25 × 0.75 = 0.9375
1.5 × 0.75 = 1.125
2 × 1.875 + 2 × 1.125 + 0.9375 = 6.9375m2
6.9375 ÷ 5 = 1.3875
Ian needs 2 tins of paint.
2 × 6.99 = £13.98
