With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcome:
Compose a five-paragraph essay on a provided topic using all the steps of the writing
process.
The activity consists of:
Step 1
- Choose one of the following topics. Inform in the forum about the topic you
chose so that no topics are repeated among students.
o Scientists have successfully cloned animals like Dolly the sheep. Some
people hope that cloning techniques will be used to clone humans
someday, while others strongly oppose this use of technology. What is
your position on cloning humans?
o Many people have argued that the skills needed to be successful in
today's workforce have changed. What skills do you feel an individual
needs to be successful in a job today? Why do you feel these skills are
most important?
o Music has become a major part of almost everything in our lives. Does
this mean that music is important for us to survive, or is music a luxury
for us? Write a persuasive argument in favor of your choice.
o While most of us strive for success, we are sometimes surprised to learn
that it is not always a good thing. In fact, some people believe it can lead
to more difficult problems. Do you agree or disagree?
o Electricity is necessary for the operation of everyday electronic devices
such as televisions, computers, microwaves and refrigerators. Suppose
there were a global force that stopped the flow of electrons. Convince the
public what energy sources you would set up and use in your home to

help you survive and why. Include your own ideas, insights, and
understanding of the problem.
- Interpret the directions given in the prompt by breaking the assignment into its
subject and direction words like we did in Task 1, and share it in the forum.
Step 2
- Choose the prewriting strategy you liked the most. Use it to generate ideas
about the chosen topic like we did in Task 2. Share your prewriting strategy in
the forum.
- Based on your prewriting strategy, write a tentative thesis statement for the
chosen topic and three topic sentences that you could use for paragraphs in a
rough draft. Share it in the forum, too.
Step 3
- With the information from Step 2, create an outline and post it in the forum.
Once you have done it, write a 5-paragraph rough draft essay that includes an
introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs and the conclusion paragraph about
the chosen topic like we did in Task 3.
Step 4
- Deeply revise your essay in order to improve it using the checklist from Task 4.
Share this revision in the forum.
Step 5
- Rewrite your essay to improve it according to your revision and publish this
clean copy in the forum.
Step 6
- Send a PDF document in accordance to APA rules (7th Edition in English) with
Steps 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 to the Evaluation Environment.
