Monsoon semester 2017, Tutorial Test II
A
CE4001 COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
Duration: 1 hr Maximum Marks: [15]
Answer all questions. Read questions carefully before answering.

1. Evaluate the solution of the following initial value problem by the first four terms of its Taylor series
expansion: y = 0.5 (1 + x ) y2 and y (0) = 1. [3]
2. Use Runge-Kutta fourth order method and solve the initial value problem:
y = ( y  x )/( y + x ), y (0) = 1. Take a step size of h = 0.2 and find y (0.4). [4]
3. Use the finite difference method to solve the following boundary value problem
y iv  256 y  0 ; y (0) = 0, y (0) = 0, y (1) = 1, and y (1) = 1.

Use a step size of h = 0.25 and report y (0.25), y (0.5) and y (0.75). [5]
4. Solve the following integral using 3 point Gauss Quadrature method.
