Identify the following circuits;
What type of circuit is being
projected in the screen?

Answer: Open Circuit

How about this circuit?

Answer: Closed Circuit

What is the difference between

the two circuits?

Answer: Open circuit does not

allow electricity to flow, while
closed circuit allows electricity to
flow through it.

Very good!
Indicator 8:
Note: Teacher will show real

What is the Tagalog term for Bulb?

Answer; Bombilya
Battery = Baterya

Now focus on the video:

Question:

What season/occasion does the

picture shows?

B. Establishing a
purpose for the lesson
(Motivation)

Question:

What object were used to light

the area?

Answer: It is a Christmas Light Indicator 7:

Very good! Established a learner-centered

culture by using teaching strategies
What religion usually celebrates that respond to their linguistic,
Christmas? cultural, socio-economic and
Answer: Roman Catholic religious backgrounds.

Why do we celebrate
Christmas?
Because Jesus Christ was born.
C. Presenting Christmas light has the thing to
Page 4 of 18
do with our lesson today.

Observe the following circuits.

Indicator 3
Applied a range of teaching
strategies to develop critical and
creative thinking, as well as other
higher-order thinking skills.
(The learners are allowed to think
about the changes happens when
bulbs are removed in the circuits)

What happen when I remove

examples/instances of one bulb from the first circuit?
the new lesson
(Demonstration /
Modeling)

Answer:
It will not allow electric current to
pass through and another bulb
will not light up.
What happen if I were going to
do on the second circuit?

Answer:
Other bulbs are not affected. It
still allows electric current to
flows to another bulb.
Excellent!
D. Discussing new The first circuit shown to you is
concepts and called the Series Circuit and the
practicing new skills other one is called Parallel
#1 Circuit.
(Analysis)
Series Circuit
When bulbs are connected one
after the other in one chain.
Electric current flows through a
single path, so when bulb is
loosened or busted, all the
bulbs in this circuit will not light
anymore.
Parallel Circuit
When bulbs are in different
loops. Each bulb is a part of a
different circuits. When bulb is
loosened, taken or burned out,
the other bulbs still light up.
This is because each bulb has
its own pathway.
Just like the Christmas light, if it
was set a series circuit it will
affect all the other bulbs. If it
was set as parallel circuit,
another bulb still lights up even
one bulb is busted.
Now, we will have a group
activity.

The group must be consisting Indicator 6

Equality. care to encourage learning.

Group Activity:
Group 1.
Connect the different electrical
component cut-outs to form a
series circuit
Group 2.
Connect the different electrical
component cut-outs to form a
parallel circuit
Group 3.
Match the concepts in Column

Indicator 5
Established safe and secure
learning environments to enhance
learning through the consistent
implementation of policies,
guidelines and procedures.

Indicator 9
Let’s give ourselves a TIKTOK Used strategies for providing
CLAP! timely, accurate and constructive
feedback to improve learner
performance.

E. Discussing new Remember the following

concepts and effect of changing number of

dimmer light.

✔ The more batteries the

brighter light but bulb will
be busted/burned if too
much voltage.

✔ The lesser bulb the

brighter light.

✔ The lesser batteries the

dimmer light.

For the setup of Series circuit,

what do you think will happen if
we add another bulb or more?

Answer:
It will make the bulb
dimmer and dimmer

Now, we can see the

effect of adding more numbers
of component in circuits. It will
lessen the electricity flowing
through the bulb.
Indicator 2:
Used range of teaching
strategies that enhance
learner achievement in
numeracy skills.

Note: Let the pupils count the

number of bulbs in the circuit.

Indicator 1:
Applied knowledge of content
Now let’s see. For example, in within and across learning
MATH computation; areas.

For instance, If we’re going to

look on the amount of voltage of
the battery.

1 battery is equal to 9 volts

and we have 3 bulbs

We will divide 9 by 3

How much voltages are there in

each bulb?

Answer: 3 volts in each bulb

Very Good!

What type of circuit is this?

Answer:
It is a Parallel Circuit

In your EPP class, you will be Indicator 1:

F. Developing mastery
areas.
(Independent Practice)
For example, you are going to
install electricity at home,

What is the most common circuit

used at home?

Answer:
Parallel Circuit

Why?

Because bulb in a parallel circuit

will still function regardless of
the other bulbs connected in the
circuit.
How does Electricity Helps
Human?
Indicator 8
Answer: Adapted and used culturally
G. Finding practical appropriate teaching
applications of concepts and Electricity does a lot of work for strategies to address the
skills in daily living us. We use it many times each needs of learners from
(Application) day. It lights our homes, warms indigenous groups.
and cools our rooms, and helps
us keep them clean. It cooks our
food and washes the dishes. It
really helps us at home and
most specially in the kitchen.
H. Making generalizations What are the different types of
and abstractions about the circuits?
lesson (Generalization) Answer:
Series Circuit and Parallel
Circuits
Indicator 2:

What are the effects of changing strategies to develop critical and
the number of components in a creative thinking, as well as
circuit? other higher-order thinking
Answer: skills.
More batteries/voltage
(power source) makes the bulb
glow brightly but too much
batteries/voltage (power source)
can make the bulb busted.
Adding more bulbs (load)
can make the light dimmer but
lessening the bulb (load) will
make it brighter. Longer wire
makes it hard for the current to
flow that is why the bulb glow
dimmer.
Why it is important to learn
about the following circuit?
Because, learning
circuits helps us identify what
would be the best circuits apply
at home.
I. Evaluating learning Read each item carefully.
