OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE NALWA (HISAR)

To
1. The Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), GJU S&T Hisar
2. The Dean of Colleges (DOC), GJU S&T Hisar Dated: 09-07-2024

Subject: ISSUES RELATED TO POOLS OF DSC, MIC, MDC, SEC, AEC AND VAC IN THE
B.COM. PROGRAMME

Respected Sir,
In reference to the Notice received on WhatsApp group (NEP-2020 NODAL OFFICERS AFFILIATED
COLLEGES) regarding the meeting scheduled for 09.07.2024 at 11:00 AM in the O/o Dean of Academic
Affairs, on the above cited subject, I, the Nodal Officer (NEP) of Govt. College, Nalwa, Hisar, would like
to highlight the following concerns (after having finalized the same with the faculties of the Department
of Commerce of my College) so as to make students navigate the ever-evolving landscape of business and
industry and to ensure our students are well-prepared for the challenges they will face in their careers.
These Concerns are:

1. Main Concerns

1.1. The subjects that is offered to B.Com. students within the categories of DSC, MIC, MDC, SEC, AEC
AND VAC in the B.Com. programme should be directly related to the field of commerce. This alignment
is crucial to ensure that the programme remains true to its core objectives and the principles of the National
Education Policy (NEP).

1.2. Consequently, the Commerce subjects are compressed to greater extent and making it useless by
diluting the core concepts of commerce faculty. For Example: Income Tax, Business Statistics and
Corporate Accounting.

2. Keeping these main concerns in mind, I request your kind consideration the following sub-
issues/aspects in a way to smooth functioning of the Commerce faculty:

Courses Issues Probable Suggestions/Options

DSC 1. Subjects are not fulfilling the definition of DSC 1. Indian Financial System
as per NEP-2020. Retail Management
2. For Example: Micro and Macro Economics 2. Rural Marketing
3. Sales Management
4. International Business
5. Auditing
MIC 1. Non-Commerce subject. 1. Securities Market Operations
2. For Example: Business Mathematics and 2. Digital marketing instead of
Computer Applications in Business Computer Application in Business.
3. Organizational Behavior
4. Strategic Management
5. Strategic Marketing
6. Corporate Governance
SEC No subjects have been offered in Commerce. 1. Computerized Accounting System-
Tally
2.Income Tax e-filing
3. GSTR Filing
4. Startup and Entrepreneurship
5. Modern Office Management
6. Business and Technology
VAC No subjects have been offered from the 1. Business Etiquettes
Commerce. 2. Managing Workforce
3. Business Stress Management
4. Green Practices in Business
5. Green and Sustainable Accounting
6. Ethical Issues in Digital Marketing
AEC The core courses offered by linguistics faculties 1. Business Communication
are irrelevant to Commerce students and business 2. Business Report Writing
application-oriented courses must be offered. 3. Personality Development
For Commerce Students Non-commerce subjects (offered by
Economics, Maths & Computer Science)
that were offered in DSC and Minor may
be opted by the commerce students.
MDC Offered by Commerce Dept.: Hard core subjects 1. Startups and Entrepreneurship
may not be feasible for non-commerce students. 2. Management Skills
3. Basics of Accounting
4. Computerized Accounting-Tally
5. Personal Finance
Other Important Suggestion: Since, every other discipline is offering single major but this is not
available in Commerce due to scheme D, so we can offer some other commerce programmes like B.Com.
Vocational (Banking & Insurance), B.Com. Vocational (E-Commerce) & B.Com. Vocational (Tax
Procedure and Practices) in line with Kurukshetra University etc.

3. In conclusion, our commerce education system must adapt to the changing demands of the business
world. Let us work together to create a curriculum that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures well-
rounded professionals who can contribute effectively to the economy and society. Thank you for your
attention to this matter. I look forward to positive changes that will benefit our students and secure their
future. Hence, you are requested to inculcate the above suggestions in the interest of the students and
making the course more justified and without diluting the core nature of commerce. Thanking you,

Dr. Anil Kumar
