Statement of Purpose

I believe this is an opportunity and privilege to say something about me through this introduction. I
MOHD MAJID ALI KHAN an undergraduate in Civil Engineering from NAWAB SHAH ALAM KHAN COLLEGE
OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY. The rapid changes in the field of construction over the years such
as introduction of new techniques and management programs have made the role of civil engineering
very essential one and it has been my deepest desire to be a part of this burgeoning community. My
undergraduate course was a combination of theory and practice. Interesting subjects like Water
resources, Theory of structures, Finite element techniques, Ground water management and
Construction management and techniques made me seek comprehensive knowledge outside the
domain of syllabus with tremendous guidance from department faculty. I have also completed my final
major project on ‘Design and Analysis of a Multistoried Building’ which was done both manually and by
software for a G+5 apartment, which helped me to gain knowledge on modern construction methods
and management and the use of modern equipment. I have also learned Civil designing software
programs like basics of Auto-CAD, STAAD.Pro, E-TABS and Primavera. My academic performance has
been good. I have a score of 6.24 in my undergraduate course. I am determined and highly motivated to
pursue the same path of academic excellence. The qualities needed to excel at the juncture can be
attributed to the worthy values which were instilled during my upbringing in the early influential years.
At the end of my undergraduate course, I have developed interest in a particular subject called Design of
Concrete Structures which was part of my syllabus. Topics such as Design of a dam, retaining wall, Water
tank, bridge etc. had a great impact on me in deciding the course for my master’s degree. I want to
pursue my MS in Civil engineering from your prestigious university. After acquiring foundational
knowledge in this field, I wanted to gain much in-depth knowledge which influenced me to pursue my
bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering course from Nawab Shah Alam Khan College of Engineering and
Technology affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. I have ensured my whole-hearted
involvement in extracurricular activities also. I was an active member of the Professional Student
Chapter Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) in which I Volunteered and planned many technical events with
my team during my bachelor’s. After almost 4 years of study in the background of Civil engineering, I’m
keen to refine my knowledge and skillset in a particular field of expertise. Through the Master in Civil
engineering at your esteemed university, I wish to familiarize myself with the latest and superior
practices in the field of civil engineering. I have maintained a record of a high level of excellence
throughout my academic career. I completed my High school at Crown International High School,
Affiliated with the Board of Secondary Education, Telangana. I have completed my 10th grade with a GPA
of 6.8 in 2016.I enrolled in MS Junior College to pursue my Intermediate. I completed my Intermediate
with an aggregate marks of 621 in 2018. During this period I have done two major projects the first one
in “Low-Cost Housing” in which I gained several techniques for economic construction of a structure,
However, it was elected as the best project by the faculty members. The second project was based on
“UBOOT beton technology” based on a latest slab casting technique which was initiated in Italy, inspired
by it I even created a model of it highlighting its major structural elements with my team, which won 2nd
prize in interstate competition. Moreover, I completed my internship as a Site engineer for 6 months at
Emaarat Constructions, In which I have got the opportunity to understand the technical and managerial
aspects of residential housing projects. After completing my Intermediate, my career decisions, later on,
were also guided by this motivation. The entrance exam enabled me to secure a seat in the top
engineering college of my state. Now, in my master, I want to gain advanced design techniques,
management skills and business strategies. With this program I can get all the required skills to tackle
real-world engineering challenges I would face in my work and also for my career development. I want to
strengthen my basic knowledge in the field of structural engineering and the field of construction
management. After great research, I got to know that the USA has a vast number of universities and I
have chosen your university as it is fully recognized and supported by USA Government University.
Moreover, due to the excellent campus facilities, graduate satisfaction, Due to quality staff and their best
rating. This university offers a good study option that caters to the need of students. Secondly, they have
good classrooms which enable good interaction with the faculty. The fee at this university is very much
affordable which caught my interest in pursuing my master' study. Moreover, this university has more
experienced faculty which will help me develop my technical skills and the lab facilities over here are
much highly advanced and rated 5 stars by the alumni, which will boost my practical knowledge of this
field about various material testing and their evaluation. The staff here is also highly rated by the passed
out students who are at well-settled jobs in highly-reputed companies. By seeing these factors, I decided
that this program is the most effective to make progress in my career and would make me a much
conductive engineer in the coming future. After completion of my course in the USA, I would like to
come back to India and search for employment in the field of civil engineering. My country, India, is on
the threshold of hectic development in infrastructure like roads, bridges, highways, expressways etc.
India is in a tearing hurry to make up for the lost time to catch up with the developed world and achieve
a better standard of living. Civil engineering will play a major role in changing the face of Indian
Panorama. When we go for modern bridges, high rise buildings or ultramodern condominiums;
structural engineering will form the center stage of engineering development and I also want to play a
part in the major developments of my country which gives me the motivation to gain further advanced
knowledge for structural design and construction planning of massive structures. After completing my
masters I can expect employment in construction companies like GMR, L&T, aparna Constructions etc. as
I will be holding an International Recognized degree from your university. To conclude, I strongly believe
that your university would be an ideal place for me to pursue my Master’s study, I wish to channel my
knowledge and make my life significant by joining your university. I am positive that you will allow me
the honor of studying at your reputable university. I am confident that pursuing my masters in your
