Overview
This section describes the procedure and precautions for replacing a faulty UMPT in a BBU3900.
Objective
Upon completion of this task, trainees will be able to handle how to replace UMPT board.
Prerequisites
Confirmed the UMPT board was faulty, and a new board has been prepared.
Prepare the MBTS Software, save inside local PC for LMT local upgrading.
An ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves and an M3 Phillips screwdriver are available.
Associated personnel have gained permission to access the site and have obtained the required
keys.
1 Use the BKP CFGFILE command to back up the current configuration of the BS. □Yes
□No
2 Use the ULD CFGFILE command to upload a backup configuration file to an FTP server. □Yes
(FTP Server IP should be Local PC IP address, for example:192.168.0.88, Username:admin, Password: □No
hwbs@com by default, and need choose one working directory in your PC where you want save this
backed up data file.)
3 1. Choose the NE data just backed up, 2.click Download to OSS Client.3.Select own PC choose one □Yes
folder to save it. □No
Task3: Back Up Site Alarm by U2000 and LMT——Remote and Local Operation
1 U2000 backup: Find the target site in U2000 Topology, Right click the target site, then click Query □Yes
Alarm/Event/Current Alarm. □No
2 Save alarm through U2000: Unclick cleared alarms. Right click and save all records in local computer □Yes
□No
1 Run the LST GCELL command on the BSC to query the administrative state of the cells under □Yes
the base station. Then, run the SET GCELLADMSTAT command with the ADMSTAT □No
parameter set to LOCK to block all cells under the base station.
Run the BLK GLOCELL command on the eGBTS to block all cells under the eGBTS.
Run the BLK ULOCELL command on the NodeB to block all cells under the NodeB.
CAU TION:
When removing a board, hold the board with both hands and remove it from the subrack
slowly.
When transporting a board, hold the board with both hands.

5. Install the new board, lower the ejector levers, tighten the screws on the board panel to 0.6
N·m (5.31 lbf·in.), and reconnect the cables.
2 Check the status of the new board by observing the status of indicators. For details about the □Yes
status of the indicators □No
RUN Green Steady on There is power supply, but the board is faulty.
Blinking (on for 0.125s and The board is being loaded or configured.
off for 0.125s)
The board is not started.
ALM Red Steady on An alarm is generated, and the board needs to be replaced.
Blinking (on for 1s and off An alarm is generated, and you need to locate the fault
for 1s) before determining whether to replace the board.
Blinking (on for 0.125s and The operation and maintenance link (OML) is disconnected.
off for 0.125s)
Blinking (on for 1s and off The board is being tested, for example, going through an
for 1s) RRU voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) test by using a
USB flash drivea.NOTE:
Only the UMPTb1 and UMPTb2 working in UMTS mode
and the UMPTa1 have this indicator status.
Blinking (In every 4s, the Some cells configured for the subrack that houses this
indicator is on for 0.125s board are not activated.
and off for 0.125s [eight
times] in the first 2s and The S1 link is faulty.
then off for 2s.) NOTE:
Only the UMPTb1 and UMPTb2 working in LTE mode,
UMPTa2, and UMPTa6 have this indicator status.
Task6: Restore Software and Configuration Data on new UMPT (LMT GUI or
MML Mode)——Local Operation
1 Use the LST VER command to list the information about the software version running on the new board. □Yes
If the same version as the old UMPT, directly go to Task 6. Restore MBTS Data. If different, continue. □No
2 Use the LST SOFTWARE command to list the information about the software stored on the NE. □Yes
□No
3 Prepare the new software version inside local PC, and start SFTP server. □Yes
PS: the working directory should be the folder where you saved MBTS software. □No
4 Download and Activate the MBTS software from the FTP server to the MBTS. □Yes
1.Choose Device Maintenance. 2. Double-click Software management. 3. choose all (Download Version □No
Software.need choose No(Not Delay Download)) ,Browse the software version and the backed up
configuration file which saved inside local PC, then Execute.
Right click SFTPServer, configure it, the working directory should choose the folder where saved the
backed up data.
1 Run the ADD ETHPORT command to add an Ethernet port and set its parameters, such as the □Yes
speed, duplex mode, and port attribute EXAMPLE:
□No
SET ETHPORT: SN=7, SBT=BASE_BOARD, PA=COPPER, SPEED=AUTO, DUPLEX=AUTO;
2 Run the ADD VLANMAP command to add an entry of mapping from the next-hop IP address to a □Yes
single VLAN
□No
EXAMPLE:
ADD VLANMAP: NEXTHOPIP="10.204.230.69", MASK="255.255.255.252",
