Summary:
1. The following symbols are used when dealing with inequalities <, , > and
3. To represent an inequality on a number line, use an open circle for < or >

5. The inequality 2 > x is the same as x < 2 and 4 < x is the same as x > 4.

QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
Summary:
1. Solving a quadratic inequality is the same as find the range of xvalues where
the graph in the equation will be above or below the xaxis
(ii) Solve the equation to get the endpoints of the three different intervals
(iii) Plot the solution on a number line to identify the intervals for investigation
(iv) Pick a number from each interval and work out the sign for each interval

transport. The number of trips made by the lorry should not exceed 12. Those
made by the van should not exceed twice the number of trips made by the lorry.
If x and y are the trips made by the lorry and van respectively,
