One academic year consists of two 16-week semesters, including the period for final exams. Summer semesters may be offered within the
scope of an academic year.
The credit value of a course consists of all of the weekly theoretical course hours plus half of the weekly laboratory, practical, studio, practical
application and other similar course hours.
Courses coded 100-499 indicate undergraduate courses, courses coded 500-999 indicate graduate courses.
Courses marked (*) are courses that have been repeated and therefore deducted from the CGPA.
Courses marked with the letter (R) are courses whose grades for the semester have been finalized following a
resit exam given to students fulfilling the requirements specified in the concerned regulation after the final
grades for the semester have been announced.
Credit hours with (+) indicate courses counted from another program and are included in computation of CGPA.
Credit hours with (-) indicate courses not included in the program and are not included in computation of CGPA.
Associate Degree Programs: The standard duration of study in such programs is 2 years (4 semesters) and the maximum duration is 4
years (8 semesters). In order to qualify for graduation, the minimum grade required in a course is DD/S and the minimum CGPA is 2.00/4.00.
Undergraduate Programs: The standard duration of study in such programs is 4 years (8 semesters) and the maximum duration is 7 years
(14 semesters). In order to qualify for graduation, the minimum grade required in a course is DD/S and the minimum CGPA is 2.00/4.00.
Non-thesis Graduate Programs Integrated with an Undergraduate Program: The standard duration of study in such programs is 5
years (10 semesters) and the maximum duration is 9 years (18 semesters). In order to qualify for graduation, the minimum grade required in
a course is DD/S and the minimum CGPA is 2.00/4.00.
Compensatory Programs for Graduate Studies: The maximum duration of study in such programs is 1 year (2 semesters). For
satisfactory completion of an undergraduate course, the minimum grade required is CC/S and that of a graduate course is CB/S and the
minimum CGPA is 2.50/4.00.
Master’s Programs with a Thesis: The standard duration of study in such programs is 2 years (4 semesters) and the maximum duration is
3 years (6 semesters). In order to qualify for graduation; the student must have taken at least 7 courses (21 credits) and completed the
dissertation work, the minimum grade required in a course is CC/S and the minimum CGPA is 3.00/4.00.
Master’s Programs without a Thesis: The standard duration of study in such programs is 2 semesters and the maximum duration is 3
semesters. In order to qualify for graduation; the student must have taken at least 10 courses (30 credits), the minimum grade required in a
course is CC/S and the minimum CGPA is 3.00/4.00.
Doctoral Programs: The standard duration of study in such programs is 4 years (8 semesters) and the maximum duration is 6 years (12
semesters). In order to qualify for graduation, the student must have taken at least 7 courses (21 credits), passed the doctoral qualifying
exam, defended her/his dissertation proposal and completed the doctoral dissertation. The minimum grade required in a course is CB/S and
the minimum CGPA is 3.00/4.00.
Post Bachelors’s Doctoral Programs: The standard duration of study in such programs is 5 years (10 semesters) and the maximum
duration is 7 years (14 semesters). In order to qualify for graduation, the student must have taken at least 14 courses (42 credits), given a
seminar, passed the doctoral qualifying exam, defended her/his dissertation proposal and completed the post-doctoral dissertation. The
minimum grade required in a course is CB/S and the minimum CGPA is 3.00/4.00.
After the maximum duration of study has been exceeded, conditions for remaining in a program and the validity of the courses taken are
determined by related regulations.
