ENGLISH
A newly-developed transparent liquid crystal panel called “WHITE-ON”
display is provided over the analogue dial. It shows white characters
clearly without blocking the view of the hands and dial, and various digital
displays can be turned on and off as you require. The watch, therefore,
serves as a multi-function digital watch as well as being an analogue
watch.

minutes and in 1-second increments thereafter.

“WHITE-ON” DISPLAY
● The digital display is shown most clearly in the light, while it is rather obscure in the
gloom.
● Move the watch face to find an angle that provides the clearest view of the display.
DISPLAY AND MODE CHANGE
● If the watch is left untouched in the CALENDAR mode, the digital display will

automatically become blank in 10 seconds.
● If the watch is left untouched in the SINGLE-TIME ALARM or REGULAR ALARM mode,
the digital display will automatically return to the CALENDAR mode in 10 seconds.
● If the watch is left untouched in the STOPWATCH mode with the stopwatch stopped
or reset, the digital display will automatically return to the CALENDAR mode in 10
minutes.

● Demonstration of “WHITE-ON” display
1 While the digital display is turned off or in the CALENDAR
mode, press buttons B and C at the same time. B
• The display as shown at right appears for 1 second,
and then it disappears and the digital display remains
blank for 5 seconds.
The “WHITE-ON” display will continue to appear and
disappear alternately in such a manner.
2 Press buttons B and C at the same time again to stop the C
demonstration.
* Be sure to follow the above procedure as the demonstration will not stop
automatically.

TIME/CALENDAR SETTING
● Be sure to set the analogue and digital displays to an identical time. Otherwise, the
alarm cannot be used properly.
● The time is set in either 12- or 24-hour indication. The “AM”/“PM” mark is displayed
in the 12-hour indication while there is no mark in the 24-hour indication.
For the changeover between 12- and 24-hour indications, see “REGULAR ALARM
MODE”.
● The year digits can be set from 1996 to 2049.
● The flashing digits move quickly if button C is kept pressed.
● When setting the minute hand, first advance it 4 to 5 minutes ahead of the digital time
and then turn it back to the exact minute.
● After the crown is pushed back, the digital display changes in the following order:

Each of the above displays is shown for 3 seconds. Then, the watch automatically
returns to the display you used before setting the time/calendar. Pressing button A, B
or C in any of the above displays will also return the watch to the display you used before
setting the time/calendar.
● Do not leave the watch with the crown pulled out for a long time. Though the hands
stop moving, the battery energy is being consumed inside the watch to cause battery
depletion.
SINGLE-TIME ALARM MODE

● When the alarm time is set by pressing button B or C, the single-time alarm mark is
displayed and the alarm is automatically engaged.
● The digits move quickly if button B or C is kept pressed.
● If the alarm time is set to the current time, the alarm will automatically be disengaged.
● The single-time alarm rings differently from the regular alarm.
● If the alarm rings when the digital display is blank, the set alarm time is displayed while
the alarm is ringing and for a few seconds after it stops ringing.
● Please note, if a button is pressed in the STOPWATCH mode to stop the alarm ringing,
the alarm is stopped but the stopwatch operation is also made.
REGULAR ALARM MODE
● If the watch is left untouched in the ALARM SETTING display, it will automatically return
to the REGULAR ALARM mode in 1 to 2 minutes.

● If the changeover between 12- and 24-hour indications is made in more than one regular
alarm display, the time indication system you set last will be effective for the time
indication in the other displays.
● Note on unusual display:
If buttons B and C are pressed at the same time in the ALARM
SETTING display, the display as shown at right will appear.
This is not a malfunction. Press any one of the buttons to
return to the ALARM SETTING display.
● The regular alarm rings differently from the single-time alarm.
The regular alarm can be tested by pressing and holding button
C in the REGULAR ALARM mode.
● If the alarm rings when the digital display is blank, the set alarm time is displayed while

the alarm is ringing and for a few seconds after it stops ringing.
● Please note, if a button is pressed in the STOPWATCH mode to stop the alarm ringing,
the alarm is stopped but the stopwatch operation is also made.
● If the hourly time signal rings when the digital display is blank, the time of the hourly time
signal is displayed while it is ringing and for a few seconds after it stops ringing.
STOPWATCH MODE
● Selection of the lap/split displays can be made when the stopwatch is reset to “00”.
● Restart and stop of the stopwatch can be repeated by pressing button B.
● Lap /split time measurement can be repeated by pressing button C.
● The turning graphic display only indicates that the stopwatch is measuring and does not
show the measured time.

● The lap/split times measured by pressing button C and the measurements taken by
pressing button B to stop measurement are stored in memory.
● The data number is not a lap/split number. It indicates the number of measurements
stored in memory.
● Up to 20 newest data are stored in memory. If more than 20 measurements are made,
the data are erased from the oldest one to maintain 20 newest data in memory.
● If the STOPWATCH mode is changed over to the CALENDAR mode or the digital display
is turned off while a measurement is in progress, the stopwatch continues counting
properly and the flashing mode mark appears even if the digital display is blank.
● Notes on MEMORY RECALL function:
• If “F” is attached to the data number, the data displayed is the final one measured by
pressing button B to stop the measurement, followed by resetting procedure of

pressing button C.
• With each press of button B, the stored data are recalled from the newest to the
oldest.
• If the watch is left untouched in the MEMORY RECALL display, it will automatically
return to the CALENDAR mode in 1 to 2 minutes.
• If the data is recalled during measurement, the type of measurement selected last in
the MEMORY RECALL display will be taken when the measurement is resumed.
Therefore, select the desired display, lap or split, in the MEMORY RECALL display,
and then return to the STOPWATCH mode.

● The battery life may be less than 2 years if the calendar is used more than 10 times
a day, regular/single-time alarm for more than 20 seconds for each time a day and/
or stopwatch for more than 1 hour a day.
● As the battery is inserted at the factory to check the function and performance of

the watch, its actual life once in your possession may be less than the specified
period.
● When the battery expires, be sure to replace it as soon as possible to prevent any
malfunction.
● We recommend that you contact an AUTHORIZED PULSAR DEALER for battery
replacement.
● Battery life indicator
When you see the second hand moving at two-second intervals instead of the
normal one-second intervals, the battery needs to be replaced with a new one. In
that case, replace the battery as soon as possible.
* Even while the second hand is moving at two-second intervals, the accuracy of the
analogue time will not be affected. In that period, however, the digital display will not
18 be shown and the alarm will not ring.
● Necessary procedure after battery change
After the battery is replaced with a new one, or an abnormal display (broken digits,
etc.) appears, follw the procedure below to reset the IC.
1 Pull out crown, and press and hold buttons A, B and C at the same time
for 1 to 2 seconds.
• “12:00” will be shown with MINUTES flashing.
2 Push back crown, and check the following.
• The second hand moves properly.
• The TIME, YEAR, and MONTH, DATE and DAY are shown, and then the
display becomes blank.
* All the stored data is erased from memory by following the above procedure.

WARNING
● Do not remove the battery from the watch.
● If it is necessary to take out the battery, keep it out of the reach of
children. If a child swallows it, consult a doctor immediately.
● Never short-circuit, tamper with or heat the battery, and never expose
it to fire. The battery may burst, become very hot or catch fire.
