Introduction

Currently a part-time UPS supervisor in charge of the personal vehicle drivers for the

2022 peak season. I have worked at UPS in various positions over the years, including a

personal vehicle driver for two seasons, a pre-load package handler, and a pre-load

supervisor. I am now a part-time dispatch supervisor and I am overseeing the 2022 PVD

season. I am a hard-working and motivated individual dedicated to my job and providing the

best possible service to our customers.

Overview of the Group

The group of personal vehicle drivers for the UPS peak season of 2022 comprises

individuals of different ages, ethnicities, and work backgrounds. There are both new and

previous seasonal employees in the group. The drivers come from all over the country and

have a wide range of experience levels. Most drivers are in their 20s and 30s, but a few are in

their 40s and 50s. The group is ethnically diverse, with drivers from all over the state. There

are a variety of work backgrounds represented in the group, from those who have been

driving seasonally for UPS for many years to those who are new to the company.

Despite having various backgrounds, all drivers are committed to giving UPS clients

the best service possible. They are driven and hard-working people dedicated to executing

their jobs properly. The drivers are an integral element of the UPS team and help to uphold

the organization's high standards. The drivers are valued employees of UPS and are

recognized for their commitment and labor of love. They are a crucial team component and

significantly impact the business's performance (Gençer,2019).

The management team for UPS personal vehicle drivers frequently meets to discuss

the problems and issues the drivers may face this season. The PVD department head, the

dispatch manager, and the safety manager are just a few of the managers who make up the
3

team. Every Wednesday, the crew meets in the company's boardroom to examine the drivers'

issues and develop potential solutions.

Group Goals

Delivering packages to customers in a safe and timely manner is the main objective of

UPS seasonal drivers. To ensure that each customer is satisfied individually, the group

employs a customer-centred approach that focuses on the client's needs. The supervisors are

in charge of training the drivers during orientation and are responsible to conduct safety

methods following once a month to make sure the seasonal drivers are adhering to the rules

set forth in orientation.

The group also wants to work hard and be motivated. Setting goals, pursuing them,

being committed to their work, and upholding UPS safety standards are all things the group

must do. Ensure they are highly motivated to meet delivery deadlines and complete the

deliveries in a safe and timely manner; this is crucial (Bion,2018). In order to ensure seamless

operation, the group finally works to realize all of the aims and goals they have suggested.

How I will Achieve the Goals

The team will succeed in its objectives by getting everyone to sign documentation

acknowledging that they have read and understood the job specifications. A discussion of the

task and an opportunity to address any questions that may have arisen will also be allowed

after each meeting. The team will also ensure that they pass inspection before using their cars

to deliver packages.

The Rules of My Group

Everyone who understands the job requirements must sign the document. This is crucial

because it guarantees that everyone is aware of expectations and is on the same page.

Everyone must ensure their vehicle passes inspection before using it to deliver packages. This

is important because it ensures that the vehicles being used are safe and will not cause any
4

accidents or damage to the delivered packages. Safety guidelines must be followed along

with vehicle maintenance and state requirements to have a valid driver’s license and

insurance.

The Group Exercise

The exercise that the group will engage in is the "Vehicle Selection Exercise."

Instructions to the Activity

1. Divide the group into pairs and have each pair choose a vehicle.

2. Have each pair spend a few minutes discussing the following questions:

- What is the make and model of the vehicle?

- What is the year of the vehicle?

- How many miles is on the vehicle?

- What is the estimated value of the vehicle?

- How well do you think the vehicle will hold up during the peak season?

3. After each pair has had a chance to discuss their questions, have them share their answers

with the rest of the group.

4. Ask each group member to share what they learned from the exercise.

This activity will assist your group in considering the various vehicle types that will be

utilized during the busiest time of the year and the issues that must be taken into account

when selecting a vehicle. Additionally, it will encourage conversation and encourage

interaction among your group.
