OMICRON PTL Schneider MiCOM P642 PTT User Manual

1. General
This user manual describes details of testing MiCOM P642 relay with the OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.

1.1 Supported Relays

The following relays can be tested with the Protection Test Template:
 P642
 P643
 P645

2. Software and Hardware Requirements

To use this template, you must have a valid test license for the OMICRON Test Universe 3.00 software or
higher versions and the following test modules:
 Control Center
 Diff Configuration
 Diff Trip Time Characteristic
 Diff Operating Characteristic
 Diff Harmonic Restraint
 Overcurrent
 Ramping
 State Sequencer

A CMC test set with six current outputs is required. A CMA 156 current amplifier may be additionally
required for testing with higher currents e.g. relays with 5A current measuring inputs.

3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring a MiCOM P642 relay to a CMC test set. The advised connections
are shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the Hardware Configuration of the
PTT.

Hardware Configuration for Earth Fault Protection, EF Input is set to “Measured”

For testing a Earth Fault protection with a residual current measured by a separate current transformer
(TN1, TN2), please change the connections according to the advised connections in Figure 2 for Earth
Fault protection side 1 and Figure 3 for Earth Fault protection side 2.

4. Functional Range
Supported functions:
 Differential Protection (87)
 Phase Overcurrent Protection (50, 51)
 Earth Fault Overcurrent Protection (50N, 51N)

Not supported functions:

 Directional Time Overcurrent Protection
 REF Protection
 Negative Sequence Overcurrent Protection
 Thermal Overload Protection
 Through Fault Protection
 Overfluxing Protection
 Volt Protection
 Frequency Protection
 RTD Protection
 CB Fail Protection
 VT/CT Supervision
 CLIO Protection

Not supported parameters or parameter values:

 Setting Values = Primary (PARAMETER_09_2E)

5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the Schneider MiCOM P642 XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the Easergy
Studio V6.0.0 software and the following data models with software version:
 P642: Software Version B1

The XRIO Import Filter can be used for importing settings into the Relay Parameter Section.

Note: The MiCOM P642 PTT works with settings in secondary values. Please ensure that the parameter
Setting Values (PARAMETER_09_2E) is set to Secondary before exporting to XRIO from the MiCOM
S1 Agile SW.
