1. General
This user manual describes details of testing Schneider P3U30 relays with the OMICRON
Protection Test Template. General information on the usage of OMICRON Protection Testing Library
items can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.
3. Hardware
There are multiple possibilities of wiring a Schneider P3U30 relay to a CMC test set. The advised
connections are shown in Figure 1. These connections are the default settings in the
Hardware Configuration of the PTT.

4. Functional Range
Supported functions:
• Phase overcurrent 50/51
• Ground fault overcurrent 50N/51N (calculated or measured IN)
• Directional phase overcurrent 67
• Direct. Ground fault overcurrent (calculated or measured IN)
• Switch on-to-fault 50HS
Although the functions listed above are not supported by the Protection Test Template, the
Relay Parameter Section of the XRIO Converter includes most protection parameters of the relay
regarding the feeder application mode.
5. XRIO Converter
The Test Object already contains the Schneider P3U30 XRIO Converter, which includes setting
parameters of the modelled protection relay. The setting parameters are built as an image of the English
(US) setting names of the Schneider eSetup Easergy Pro V4.12 software.
General information about the converter structure can be found in the OMICRON PTL user manual.
All SOTF test modules support both, the automatic dead line detection with an internal current criterion or
with help of a dead line detection input. If the relay is configured to detect the dead line by the binary
input, the CMC binary output 1 must be connected to that input.
The State Sequencer test module is used to test the instantaneous tripping at switch onto fault function.
Each SOTF parameter is tested with a different module as described in the following part. For each
module the reaction and trip time of the relay is measured and assessed.
• The first test module assesses the Pick-up setting of the SOTF function by simulating a state
where the pickup value is exceeded and one where it is not exceeded.
• The second test module addresses the 50HS active after CB closure parameter by considering
intermediate states with durations below and above the setting.
• The last test module evaluates the Dead line detection delay time by simulating CB Open states
with durations below and above the setting. There is an additional intermediate state (with normal
operation condition) to ensure that the SOTF active time is reset, before the next iteration starts.
