Among different innovations in mobile technology, the invention


of the cellular (mobile) phone was the most significant one.
Modern mobile phone provides a lot of services from being able
from being able to message anyone to immediate access to the internet. We use mobile
phones every day and sometimes we cannot imagine our life without it. However, many
people do not know that the talented American engineer Martin Cooper, was the scientist
who invented the first cell phone.
Martin Cooper was born in Chicago on the 26th of December 1928. He was graduated
from Illinois institute of technology in 1950 and earned a Master’s degree in electrical
engineering in 1957. He worked in electronic industry especially wireless communication
and was awarded multiple patents for his work.
Martin cooper made his invention while he was working in Motorola company in 1973.
The first mobile phone was named Dyna Tac 8000 x by Motorola which looked nothing
like what we use now. It was 25 centimeters long and weighed about 1 Kilo.
