Installing and configuring Internal SRS on a VxRail Appliance
Use this procedure to configure the internal (VxRail embedded) SRS VE (deployed from VxRail
Manager). To use a pre-existing external SRS VE (non-VxRail embedded), skip this section and proceed
directly to Connect VxRail to Existing External Secure Remote Services (SRS) or Secure Connect
Gateway VE Procedure.
This procedure only applies to VxRail Appliance systems that were installed at version v4.7.100 or later.
The installation and configuration of SRS VE on VxRail Appliance version 4.7.100 or later is very easy
and should take about 30 minutes, provided all prerequisites have been met.

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, ensure the following:
• The appliance is installed with the correct SiteID/PartyID that the customer eService account being
used to deploy and configure SRS is associated with.

Note: Failure to validate this requirement will result in an unsuccessful deployment.

• The VxRail Appliance has already been installed and initialized.

• The SRS VE Gateway’s hostname is configured on your DNS Server if want to deploy it with
hostname but not IP address.
• You have a Dell EMC Online Support account that is active, and you can log in to that account.
To complete this procedure, you need:
• Dell EMC Online Support Account Username
• Dell EMC Online Support Account Password
• IP address for the SRS VE Gateway on the same subnet as the VxRail Manager
• Hostname of the SRS VE Gateway
VxRail Manager supports configuring proxy settings in version 7.0.100 and later. SRS VE v3.46.00.04
delivered with GI bundle supports proxy type HTTP, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5.
Proxy types supported by SRS VE v3.46.00.04
• HTTP with Authentication (AuthN)
• HTTP without AuthN
• SOCKS5 without AuthN
• SOCKS4 without AuthN
• SOCKS5 with AuthN
• SOCKS4 with AuthN
See the Proxy procedure for more details.

Connect VxRail to Existing External Secure Remote Services

(SRS) or Secure Connect Gateway VE Procedure
Use this procedure to connect to your pre-existing external Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect
Gateway VE (non-VxRail embedded). To configure the internal (VxRail-embedded) SRS VE (deployed
from VxRail Manager), refer to Installing and configuring Internal SRS on a VxRail Appliance
A VxRail Cluster can connect to an existing Secure Remote Services or Secured Connect Gateway VE.
This allows you to monitor multiple VxRail Clusters and non-VxRail nodes with a single Secure Remote
Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE instance.

Prerequisites:
You must have:
• A VxRail Appliance that is configured, deployed, and operational, either
o A VxRail Appliance that has Internet, or
o A VxRail Appliance under intranet.
• IP address for the Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE Gateway on the same
subnet as the VxRail Manager.
• The Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE’s hostname defined on the DNS
Server if plan to register it with a hostname but not an IP address.
• An active external Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE deployed.
Check the VxRail Support Matrix for currently supported levels.
If Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE was not previously deployed, go to Dell
Downloads for Secure Remote Services Virtual Edition or Secure Connect Gateway Virtual Edition.
This instance of Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE can be deployed on the
VxRail Cluster or any other non-VxRail vSphere node.
See Secure Remote Services Release 3.52 or Secure Connect Gateway 5.x Virtual Edition Pre-Site
Checklist for details.

Note: Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway VE cannot be clustered with SRS 2.x
gateways or the SRS device client.

Task 1: Register VxRail with External Secure Remote Services or Secure Connect Gateway
