Introduction

A hackathon, also known as a codefest, is a social coding event

that brings computer programmers and other interested
people together to improve upon or build a new software
program.
Hackathons bring people with technical backgrounds together
for problem-solving and developing new ideas. Hackathons can
help participants hone their IT skills, meet people and work
with others in their field.

Even though hackathons are vital, people resist to participate.

A survey conducted by our team reviews the perspective of
hackathons.

Survey Analysis

The following pie chart reviews that the majority (92.5%) people knows what a
hackathon is.

10
The above bar graph shows, that Inspite of knowing what a hackathon
is majority of them did not participate, while few of them participated
in various hackathons like:SIH,Green bizz,GNITS ideathon,Telangana
smart city hackathon.

Let us know why?

Some of them participated in the hackathons, to learn about new

technologies’ (76.1%), to have fun (28.3%), they like to bring out new

11
prototypes (52. 2%).Rest of the students did not like the process of the
hackathon. Due to the following reasons
 Time consuming
 Lack of resources
 No proper infrastructures
 Wanted to. But ideas on progress thought i was not yet prepare…
 Not enough skills
 was difficult to find a person ,lack of confidence

The above mentioned are the hackathon themes people are interested in:

1. Sustainable Development

2.AI-machine learning

3. Robotics

4. Start ups

5. Python full stack

6. Related to the core

12
People reviewedthat, the above are skills required for their
participation in hackathons.

As we can see that 98.1% people want to participate in the future

Role of innovation and incubation cell
Innovation is conversion of idea leading to improvement in way of doing things
depending on availability of resources with guidance from those who are more
experienced around us.
GNITS Innovation Cell is thus envisaged to network people, ideas, experience and
resources to motivate the innovation community in the college.
This cell helps to nurture the students’ ideas and encourage them to bring up
business proposals. The Innovation Cell may facilitate even in getting funds for the
project.
Learning is a continuous process and there are always possibilities for
improvement in the existing system around us. Using the facilities of workshops,
laboratories, library including digital library facility, internet and intranet facilities
and research facilities available in the institute, innovative ideas could be
translated into reality or existing systems could be improved upon.
The main aim of this Cell is, thus, to create intuition in terms of creative design
ideas in various fields of engineering in an aesthetic approach. Innovation Cell will
assist students and also encourage young talented minds by providing them a
perfect platform for showcasing their talents, working together as teams and
participate in various competitions. It will also serve to provide the students a
platform to excel in their specialized area of interest.

Workshops
Introduction:

Workshops play a pivotal role in fostering learning, skill development, and

collaboration across various fields. These interactive sessions provide participants
with hands-on experiences, enabling them to delve into practical aspects of a
subject beyond theoretical knowledge. Workshops are designed to be dynamic
and participatory, encouraging active engagement and the exchange of ideas
among attendees. Whether focused on professional development, technical skills,
or creative pursuits, workshops create a conducive environment for both novices
and experts to enhance their expertise.

15
Attending a workshop can be a valuable experience for personal and professional
development. Various factors contribute to making a workshop effective and
beneficial. Here are some key factors to consider:

1. Objectives and Content:

Clearly defined objectives: Ensure that the workshop has clear goals and
objectives, and that these align with your personal or professional needs.
Relevant content: The content should be meaningful and applicable to your
interests or work.

2. Facilitator/Instructor:
Expertise: A knowledgeable and experienced facilitator enhances the learning
experience.
Engaging presentation style: A facilitator who can effectively convey information
and engage participants is crucial.

3. Interactive Learning:
Hands-on activities: Workshops that incorporate practical exercises or interactive
sessions tend to be more effective.
Group discussions: Opportunities for participants to share insights and learn from
each other.

16
Some of the most valuable experiences a professional can have are when he or
she attends a workshop. Apart from learning new things, by attending a
workshop, professionals can also build new relationships, establish connections
with like-minded people, and even get to know clients and vendors on a more
personal level.

MOTTO

Students attending workshops embrace a motto that encapsulates the

17
essence of their learning journey. This motto serves as a guiding light,
propelling them towards personal and academic growth.

Innovation and Creativity:

Innovation and creativity are at the core of the students' motto. Workshops
inspire students to think outside the box, challenge norms, and explore
novel solutions to problems. The motto encourages a mindset that values
creativity as a catalyst for progress.

Resilience and Perseverance:

Facing challenges with resilience and perseverance is an integral part of the

students' motto. Workshops present students with opportunities to
overcome obstacles, fostering a resilient spirit that prepares them for the
complexities of the professional world.

In conclusion, the motto of students attending workshops encapsulates a

holistic approach to learning. It encompasses the values of excellence,
collaboration, hands-on learning, innovation, and resilience, reflecting the
multifaceted nature of their educational journey. This motto serves as a
beacon, guiding students towards a future enriched with knowledge, skills,
and a passion for continuous growth.

From the data analysed majority(80%) of the participants attend hackathons to gain
knowledge

EXPECTATIONS

MODE OF PREFERENCE

The preference for online or offline workshops among students can vary
based on several factors. Different students may have different
preferences, and these preferences may also change over time.
Here are some factors for choosing offline mode
:
1. Face-to-Face Interaction:

20
Offline workshops provide an opportunity for direct, face-to-face
interaction between students and instructors. This personal connection
can enhance the learning experience and facilitate immediate
clarification of doubts.

2. Networking Opportunities:
In-person workshops allow students to network with peers, professors,
and industry professionals. Building connections during these events
can be valuable for future collaborations and career opportunities.

3. Team Collaboration:
Group projects and collaborative activities are often easier to manage
in an offline setting. Students can work together more seamlessly,
fostering teamwork and interpersonal skills.

4. Structured Schedule:
Offline workshops often follow a predetermined schedule, providing a
structured learning environment that can be beneficial for students
who thrive in a routine.

5. Immersive Learning Experience:

Being physically present in a workshop can create a more
immersive
learning environment. Hands-on activities, group discussions, and practical
demonstrations may be more effectively conducted in person.

Here are some factors for choosing online mode:

1. Flexibility:
Online workshops offer flexibility in terms of when and where students
can access the content. This flexibility is particularly valuable for
students with busy schedules, part-time jobs, or other commitments.

21
2. Cost-Effectiveness:
Online workshops often eliminate the need for travel and
accommodation expenses, making them more cost-effective for both
students and institutions. This can be especially beneficial for those on
a tight budget.

3. Diverse Learning Resources

Online platforms provide access to a wide range of multimedia
resources, including videos, interactive simulations, and online
discussions. This diversity of resources can enhance the learning
experience and cater to different learning preferences.

4. Global Networking:
Online workshops enable students to connect with peers, instructors,
and industry professionals globally. This global networking can provide
valuable insights and perspectives, enriching the overall learning
experience.

5. Adaptability to Different Learning Styles:

Online workshops can incorporate various instructional methods,
catering to different learning styles. This adaptability allows for a more
personalized approach to education.

6. Enhanced Digital Skills:

Engaging in online workshops helps students develop digital literacy
and proficiency in using online tools and platforms. These skills are
increasingly important in the modern workforce.

7. Time Efficiency:
Online workshops often use technology to streamline administrative
tasks, grading, and communication, resulting in time efficiency for both
instructors and students.
