The document describes a project to design a traffic light signal system using digital logic design principles. It had objectives to design a functional traffic light system using digital logic components and ensure it cycled through the standard red, green, yellow phases while implementing a timing mechanism to control the duration of each light.

Project report:

Digital logic design

Title: traffic light signal
Introduction
Traffic lights are essential for controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic at intersections. They
ensure smooth and safe flow of traffic by assigning right-of-way to different traffic streams in a
systematic manner. This project aims to design and implement a traffic light signal system using
digital logic design (DLD) principles.
Objectives
To design a functional traffic light system using digital logic components.
To ensure the traffic light cycles through standard phases (Red, Green, Yellow).
To implement a timing mechanism to control the duration of each light.
Components:
Timers:
Counters
Logic Gates
LEDs
Power Supply
Circuit diagram:
Working:
Timers: 555 timers configured to generate the required time delays.
Counters: Binary counters to count the pulses from the timers.
LEDs: Red, Green, and Yellow LEDs to indicate the current light state.
Conclusion:
The project successfully designed and implemented a traffic light signal system using digital
logic design. The system met all specified objectives, demonstrating the effectiveness of using
digital logic components for traffic control systems.
