Reflection of English 1101

This class has truly been a challenging yet immensely rewarding experience for me.

Despite the initial difficulty I encountered, I can confidently say that this course has deepened

my knowledge and skills Through the rigorous requirements of the course, I have delved deep

into writing, gaining valuable insights into not only the technical aspects but also the creative

process that supports effective communication. Moreover, as the course unfolded, I have come to

understand my writing tendencies and habits, my strengths and weaknesses in crafting essays,

and this heightened self-awareness has equipped me with a newfound clarity on how to leverage

my strengths and improve my areas of development. This course has been instrumental in

highlighting the importance of effective time management. The demands of assignments,

deadlines, and various learning activities have emphasized the critical role that time plays in

achieving academic success. As I reflect on the multitude of lessons that this class has shown me,

I am thankful for the transformative impact it has had on my academic and personal growth. The

nature of this learning experience, encompassing writing proficiency, self-discovery, and time

management strategies, has equipped me with a foundation that I will carry forward in my

academics and beyond. Undoubtedly, the lessons learned in this class will serve as guiding

During the class, after each essay, we would complete a feedback exercise to identify and

acknowledge our individual strengths and weaknesses in writing. These exercises provided me

with valuable insights into my progress, allowing me to celebrate improvements from previous

works and recognize persisting challenges that needed attention in my subsequent essays.

Noteworthy from this course was the recognition of my love for narrative essays over

argumentative ones, a preference that became evident as I explored the art of storytelling.

Writing my narrative piece felt almost instinctual as if the words effortlessly came out.

Conversely, when faced with the task of composing the argumentative essay, I encountered a

disconnect between the subject matter and my personal engagement, resulting in a writing

process that felt forced. Throughout these writing endeavors, the realization dawned upon me

regarding the paramount importance of reflection in refining an essay. The act of pausing to

contemplate and analyze my writing proved instrumental in enhancing the depth and quality of

my compositions, underscoring the significance of reflective practices in the writing process.

Throughout this course, I encountered numerous obstacles which, despite being persistent

until the very end, led me to a poignant realization about the significance of effective time

management. I also acknowledge a plethora of other insights I have gained from this experience.

One key area that I recognize as needing further refinement is my writing skills, particularly

regarding sustaining strength and coherence throughout the entirety of my essays. This

observation stems from a pattern I have noticed where my writing tends to have strong

beginnings that gradually lessen in impact due to a loss of initial momentum. Recognizing this as

an area for improvement, I aim to enhance my future writing ability by maintaining consistency

and engagement throughout my compositions. Moreover, while I may not aspire to pursue a

career solely centered on writing, the knowledge, and skills I have gained in this course

undoubtedly hold practical value that extends to my everyday life. The diverse range of essays I

have written during this course not only prompts personal growth but also equips me with the

tools needed to excel in future classes Furthermore, the distinctions of argumentative writing

have provided me with a deeper understanding of how to construct arguments and engage in

constructive debates, enhancing my critical thinking abilities. As I reflect, I hope this course has
