What to Expect with RUCKUS Certification Exams

As you prepare for your RUCKUS Certification Exam, this document provides important information on
what to expect when you sit the exam.

PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT THOROUGHLY AND CAREFULLY!

EXAM PREPARATION AND SCHEDULING

In preparation for your exam please carefully review the appropriate study guide and supporting materials.
Study guides will contain exam details, links to supporting courseware, an outline of all topics covered in the
exam and other guidance.

Visit the RUCKUS Shopfront to purchase and schedule your exam. Please be sure to enter your full
name as it appears on your ID.

You will need to schedule at least 72 hours in advance. Be careful to pick the correct Time Zone for where
you will take the exam, and to pick the correct time (AM or PM).

Once you schedule the exam, you’ll see that your dashboard in ExamStudio has changed to show the time
remaining until your exam. At the scheduled time, the timer will change to a Start Exam link.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF YOUR SCHEDULED DATE AND TIME, AS YOU WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED BY
EXAMSTUDIO.

When it is time to sit the exam, log into the ExamStudio Candidate Portal. A link will be displayed in your
dashboard to Start Exam.

If possible, please use a personal computer rather than a company-issued computer and disconnect
from any Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Please test your equipment setup prior to the exam at https://go.proctoru.com/testitout.

REMOTE PROCTORING

This exam is REMOTE PROCTORED. Remote proctoring requires secure administration of your exam by a live
remote proctor. The proctor will walk you through securing the environment for the exam so please be
prepared to meet the following security requirements.

Securing the Physical Environment

• Your laptop or desktop PC must be on a hard surface such as a desk or table
• Clear your desk and surrounding area of notes, books, calculators, phones and other materials
• You will need to provide a full 360 degree camera survey of the room: 4 corners / walls (floor to
ceiling), the desk / table with keyboard and monitor, floor underneath the desk / table
• You will need to use a mirror or phone in selfie mode to reflect the active display monitor to the
proctor
• Your phone will need to be placed behind you, out of arms reach
• If possible, please sit with your back to any door into the room (the door must be closed)
• Do not sit the exam in a room with large glass windows, such as a glassed-in conference room.
• Drinks are allowed, but food is not

Securing the Individual

• You must present a government-issued ID card such as a driver's license or passport, showing a
photo of you, your name as it appears in ExamStudio,
• Please remove any wristwatches; you’ll be asked to show both wrists; other jewelry besides watches
is acceptable
• Earbuds, headphones and headsets are not allowed; you will be asked to show each ear is clear of
earbuds
• Any eyeglasses must be shown to be normal eyewear, not digital (e.g. Google Glass)
• Make sure you are alone and will not be interrupted.
• Do not speak or read questions aloud once the exam begins

Securing the Digital Environment

• Sufficient CPU capacity is required (https://go.proctoru.com/testitout)

• Stable internet connection and sufficient bandwidth (https://go.proctoru.com/testitout)
• Working microphone and speakers required (https://go.proctoru.com/testitout)
• Download, install and run ProctorU LogMeIn_Rescue application to chat with your proctor
• LogMeIn_Rescue will run a script on your PC to detect any disallowed or problem applications
• You must allow remote desktop control by the proctor
• You must allow your proctor to install a browser extension
• Use either Firefox or Chrome (other browsers are not supported)
• Use a desktop or laptop PC (tablets and phones are not supported)
• The proctor will ask to take control of your mouse in order to:
o Disable or disconnect any secondary display or monitor and cover with cloth
o Disable ability to take screen shots or captures
o Disable hotkeys
o Disable Notifications or Turn on Do Not Disturb
o Disconnect from any VPN
o Disable Remote Desktop hosts or VMs
o Change other settings as needed
o You may request the proctor to reset these once your exam is complete
• Your entire session will be recorded, both audio and video (video and audio will be stored for a
limited time)
• Allow your proctor to enter a proctor password to begin the exam
• Contact your proctor at the end of the exam to re-enter the proctor password to conclude the exam

Connecting with the Proctor

You will first need to download the LogMeIn_Rescue application, which you will then need to run. This will
initiate a chat session with the proctor and allow the proctor to take control of your computer, change
settings and run a script to ensure the security of your system.

The ProctorU web page contains the following instructions: the Chatbox referred to here is actually the
LogMeIn_Rescue application, and not the Tech Support Chat in the lower right corner.

“3. Do Not Close the Chatbox” really means: DO NOT CLOSE OR QUIT
THE LOGMEIN_RESCUE APPLICATION!
Doing so will put you into a generalized proctor queue which will result in LONG WAIT TIMES up to an hour
or more. Your exam may time out before you connect with a proctor!

The LogMeIn_Rescue application is shown in your taskbar or dock with the ProctorU icon:
The LogMeIn_Rescue application itself will look like this:

Windows: Macintosh:

Please be patient, as it may take several minutes after the LogMeIn_Rescue session is started for a proctor to
begin chatting. Please allow the proctor to secure your digital environment.

Technical Issues

In the lower right of the ProctorU instructions page you’ll see this Support tab.

PLEASE DO NOT INITIATE A SUPPORT SESSION USING THIS TAB!

Should technical issue prevent the proctor from beginning the exam, the proctor will attempt to troubleshoot
and fix the issues for at least five minutes before referring you to a support specialist.

If you are connected with Support, you may be asked to restart your PC.

Please avoid restarting your PC if possible, as doing so may end your current Exam Session which
was initiated through ExamStudio.

You may also be asked to log into your ProctorU account. You will not have login credentials as
these are generated via API from ExamStudio.

Explain that you have initiated the exam through Zoomorphix ExamStudio via API Web Service and
do not wish to restart unless the proctor will be able to enter the correct URL to begin your exam.
If browser tabs or pages are restored on restart (Chrome, e.g.) this may not be a problem.
Mac OS X 10.15 Catalina users:
Please be sure to enable screen recording in your security and privacy settings before scheduling your exam
and testing your equipment.

STARTING YOUR EXAM

After securing your person, environment and computer, the proctor will enter a proctor passcode in
ExamStudio to begin your exam. You will have up to thirty minutes (0:30) to read the Welcome Message,
review a Tutorial and read and sign the Candidate Agreement prior to sitting the exam itself.

You must accept and comply with the Candidate Agreement which clearly indicates prohibited
behavior. If prohibited behavior is observed by the proctor, you will receive a warning. A second
observed instance or the prohibited behavior will result in termination of the exam by the proctor.
All exams are recorded and reviewed by RUCKUS administrators for compliance with the Candidate
Agreement. Credentials WILL NOT be issued if you are out of compliance.

You must complete your exam within two hours (2:00:00) from the time the first question is displayed. Exams
are split into sections and you’ll have a chance to review all questions in a section before proceeding to the
next section. Once you submit a section you will not be able to review or change answers in that section.
